Now that I'm more familiar with the controls for High Command, I'm trying to work out the best way to make coordinated battle plans at the start of a scenario (not in editor, but in-game). I realize that "no plan survives first contact with the enemy" and plans should be kept sinple, but I need to coordinate what my forces will do to reach the objective.
1st question is what's the best way to synchronize an advance (whether an attack or move to contact) using high command waypoints? I can set a series of waypoints for one unit (CTRL + LMB) on the map, but the unit starts to move the moment I set the first waypoint.
Maybe the first waypoints for each unit should be along a deployment/holding line, where I give orders to each unit to stop and wait until a set time (the planned time that the general attack/movement should begin). I see there's a function in Editor that lets you link waypoints of different units, so that one unit will automatically wait at a waypoint until its neighbor unit reaches the waypoint it's linked to. That lets you easily make a series of "phase lines" for an operation. But I don't think that function exists in-game (or does it?).
How do you go about setting up your overall plans for your units on the map in high command mode? Any good examples/tutorials on this online?
