I installed OA in my ARMA 2 directory, so it recognizes that I have A2 installed. I am able to load Chernarus and Utes in the OA editor and add other A2 content, etc. If I create a mission and insert A2 content and then play it with someone who does not have A2, I am guessing they will get the normal “deleted content” message.
Since the content in the editor is not marked with its origin, it's very easy to add a piece of A2 equipment without knowing that it's in fact from A2. It has also been my experience, when using an addon that another player does not have, that simply deleting a unit from such an addon from my mission will not let a player without the addon play. (I have to copy all the content in the editor except the unit that is giving the error, clear the mission, and then paste it in again, and save.)

So, in an effort to avoid accidentally placing A2 content in my OA missions (and then trying to figure out exactly what that piece of A2 content is) I am wondering if there is any way to disable A2 in OA. In the list of addons on the “Expansion” menu, I can see ARMA 2 checked, but I can't uncheck it. So I am looking for the equivalent of unchecking A2 in “Expansions”.

Thanks

As far as I have been able to read so far its not possible to disable Arma 2 if you installed OA inside it.
I guess people will have to make a standalone install of OA as well to run just OA. Don't ask me how, did not read anything about it......yet.

[edit]
It seems i t is possible.
More info about different installs can be found here:

Thanks for the link Foxhound. I forwarded it to one of my friends who bought OA through Steam and was having trouble linking the two.

As for the A2 and OA un-linking, I was hoping to find a way to do it more on the fly, like editing a config that lists which expansions are active. I might just reinstall in a separate directory and keep the two apart, and then follow the steps in the post you linked if I ever want to combine the two again.

Thanks
