The Royal Netherlands Airforce has a C-17 in time-share with other countries. I had the luxury of seeing this bird for it's public appearance in Le Bourget years ago, quite the show!

Yes I agree Linda, it is a nice aircraft to see perform. I will see if I can find any pictures of the livery for the Royal Netherlands Air force and include it to the add-on.

Thanks,

Hey Desktop,

Thing is, they don't come in RNLAF paint...there actually borrowed from ( Not sure wich units ) the USAF. So they don't bear anny paint or other roundels and markings...wich is too bad, cause i love the paint on our C-130H-30's ( Hint, hint ). Continue your work buddy, this is one bird i'll use a lot!!!

P.S. I remember the bird doing a reverse thrust rollback, sucking in liters of water that had beign raning down that day...
Then she throttled up, went positive rate, gear up and made a freakisch right turn with a climb angle some of the jet's out there can be jaleous at!

( UPDATE )

I spoke one of the spotters i know...the Dutch C-17's ( Codeshared ) are from McChord AFB.

Right now, I'm working on the rear door animation to properly get the sequence down to a T. I got som issues with the autolanding, when engage, the plane nose dive while performing a corkscrew maneuver. I need to investigate and read up on some topics to understand the physics a little better. Don't worry, I'm still moving foward

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the long silence!!! Life with its constant changes, the C-17 project has been at a stand still since my last post. My family and my career have to come first. To prevent this project to end up in the "maybe someday" stack, I decided to surrender the complete file package of this project to one of you super modelers out there. I am willing to give the hole thing to one of you that can assure me that you will take good care of this baby and that you have some skills to finish it. All I ask is some sample pics of you work so far on any of your project. I've attempted to attached a video of the current state of the C-17. You can either PM me or just reply to this post if you are somewhat interested in taking over. I hope that this will spark some motivation form y'all and eventually, we all will be able to see this great bird fly again!

# CoDhAtEr : Will there be any airports big enough?

The C-17 is about the same size as the IL-76 although it weighs a bit more, which has more than enough runway to land and takeoff at most of the runways in ArmA 2, but I guess it depends on the physics the modder decides to have on the aircraft, though it wouldn't be logical having it not being able to land anywhere. :p

Not sure about OA since I have not acquired the game yet but in Arma 2, works very well at the airfield northeast of Vybor. According to Boeing, the C-17 needs an airfield for a landing distance of 3,500 ft (1,060 m). But I guess everything can be slightly altered if needed for gaming purposes!

After reviewing OA's map, I am sure that it can take off and land at the airfield NE of Rasman and at the on south of Loy Manara.
