Does Anyone know why I can't use stuff like Kestrel 4500, Map Tools, Sunglasses etc...with Arma 2 CO? Alot of the other features work just not the items it seems..

I can pick up the item from the ammo box and when I go to the Action Menu it doesn't appear there, this happens for hunt IR, Spotting scope etc...I put the ACE key in my keys folder but apparently that didn't do anything. The key bindings work fine...i can access the range table and stuff like that....grenades also work fine but when I pick up M4 SLAMS or Claymores or Spotting scope or anything that requires the action menu (except for the ACE weapons) it doesn't give me the option to use them.

I have kinda the same problem with the earplugs, i know that i need to define my armaII OA profile in the userconfig or at least thats how it was don in the standalone release, is there something changed in OA ace II version that i need to do something else to make it work?? :s its irritating when im next to a heavy gunner or shoot it my self or standing next to a cannon that i'm getting deaf all the time ....

Hey guys I finally found the solution....the way you can access the items is through the self-interaction menu of ace (default key--app)

It seems the sound mod you are using ( hifi ) has a dependancy on content that ACE has since removed. Try loading up the game without that sound mod to verify.

I've been trying to get my ACE Userconfig file to work so I can use the in-game ACE keys. This is what my config looks like at the moment.

NOTE: I've also tried simply PV2 Khaki which is what I have as my profile name.

What sucks about it compared to the arma 2 version?I never used it with Arma 2 becuase my pc was'nt that good at the time,and now ive lost my arma 2 key so i can't try it myself.

I have a problem. I dowloaded all the components for ACE OA and put them where I've put all my other mods that have worked. but then when I try to open OA I get this error message: Include file x\cba\addons\main\script_macros_common.hpp not found. Please help!

If I update now will I still be able to edit/use missions I made using content from a previous ACE? I remember updating a module and losing a mission I'd been working on for ages, I don't want to go through that again.

ACE 1.5 stable was just announced and they claim to have a backwards compatibilty feature for A2. So in theory, you should not lose a mission.

Hi

Please help me out. I have ACE 2 and I've tried to add a weapon to the player's back using:

this setvariable["ACE_weapononback","M110_TWS_EP1"];

The weapon shows up in the player's gear window, but the button to switch a weapon on back for the one in your hands and vice versa is greyed out. Thus I can't switch my G36-SD for the sniper rifle and vice versa, which i should be able to do.

Screenshots of the issue:






Notice how the "On Back" button changes to an "In hands", but it is still "greyed out".
If you have the solution, please take a moment to explain it fully and how to get it to work, as I'm really new at the editor (this is my first mission). I've tried other forums, but no one wants to help me figure this out. Could you try to also explain how the rucksack system in ACE 2 works (simply) and how I could add a few mags, some frag nades and some C4 to the ruck? I can't understand most of the online stuff, and a detailed reply would help others w/ the same issues.

If you use setting the variables directly you risk creating a combination that ACE forbids and then you get the behavior seen. Which is why there are functions ( the API - application programmer interface ) to shield you from that sort of thing, it checks and gives you an error if you attempt something bad. It also screens you from any internal changes that might and do occur over time, giving your scripts a far better chance of working in the future.

Suggestions.
  • Get your userconfig updated, that message in yellow was put there for a reason. Without properly updated configs, ACE can act very wierd.
  • I see a bug in ACE - that M110 does not weigh 0 kg. It's heavy as sin in real life. Please report that to them on dev-heaven.
  • The M72 LAW is not going to legally fit in a ruck, the code for managing disposable weapons has issues so ACE just forbids them in rucks.
  • Reconsider your load out - with the weights fixed you are going to be seriously overloaded.
  • Coding - I hope my version of the ruck documentation is a bit more clear than the wagn. It does list the functions to use.
