What type of error are you receiving...a pop-up that terminates the installers executable or an app hang that causes a CTD?

Try restarting the system, run Windows disk cleanup and then re-apply the v1.59 patch...you are half-way there.
EDIT:

Are your copies of ArmA II, ArmA II:Operation Arrowhead, and ArmA II:Reinforcements all physical discs, or Digital Download files, or a combination of the two.

new ArmA2 gamer here and you can call me Mr. Remedial! %)
I looked through this thread but I could not find a specific example for myself.

I want to make my ArmA2 and ArmA2OA work together (is the result ArmA2 CO?) however I already have both games installed separately.
I bought and installed ArmA2 (sprockets download) and played it a few times. I liked it so I bought ArmA2 OperationArrowhead (sprockets download) and installed this game over the weekend.

edit....

I saw the option on the first post for the following:
----

Manual installation creating Arma 2: Combined Operations
Step 1: Uninstall ArmA2 and OA. Make Backups of your Modfolders.
Step 2: Install ArmA2 and run it once.
Step 3: Install OA. When asked where to install to, install it into the same folder as ArmA2.
Step 4: Install BAF (if applicable)
Step 5: Install PMC (if applicable)
Step 6: Install the latest OA Patch (patches also A2 + BAF + PMC).

Sample for Step 3:
If you have installed ArmA2 in c:\games\arma2, then you must install OA into c:\games\arma2 as well and not in c:\games\oa!

I have deleted/uninstalled ArmA2 and ArmA2 OA from my computer and conducted steps 1 -3 from above. I am now donwloading the 1.59 patch for OA and will try step 6 in a few minutes. wish me luck!

Added 34 minutes later:

# Foxhound :

Start the game, go to options, go to expansions and you should see Operation Arrowhead listed and active.
Also the main menu screen should show the Desert map which comes with OA and you should be able to play the Arma 2 campaigns.

OK...WTF is going on here? I tried the instructions from OP (copied below). However, my ArmA2 was NOT updated but my ArmA2 OA was updated. So now I am running ArmA2 version 1.05 and ArmA2 OA version 1.59.

I have no freakin' clue if they are linked? What do you mean above in first sentence? There is not options and expansions listed in my ArmA2 game menu. ArmA2 OA has an expansions but it does not list ArmA2, but it does list ArmA2 OA with a greenlit box (? which seems weird since that is the game itself why would it not list it) so wtf is going on...i am ready to pull out my hair!! LOL

Hey guys I used ArmA2.CO.Manually.zip to combine my games. All is good there, but now if I wanted to backup my games in Steam so I could re-install them again, would this have any effect? I mean if it modified some file would Steam still successfully be able to uninstall it, and reinstall it without re-downloading? And if not, how do I undo whatever the file did?

Thanks!

Sorry, cant be of much help (not a Steam user) but I really dont think Steam can reinstall without a re-download. I mean......as far as I know Steam does not save the downloaded files anywhere except maybe a temp location which it deletes after the installation completed.

If I am wrong and a Steam user knows the correct answer feel free to let us know :-)

correct Steam does not save files after it installs them, so to re-install you will have to wait for it to re-download it again

@MystDude
i do not know whether you can undo combining them without re-installing but i am not fully sure as i have the combined operations from steam so it automatically did it for me

Sure Steam can reinstall. It has a backup feature which packs the games into files for dvd/cd, to be installed again at a later date. I just went and forgot to use this feature before I combined the bloody games, didn't I?

Anyways I got it sorted. Combining the 2 games didn't screw up the process after all.

Thanks guys *THUMBS UP*

I have the DVD of ARMA2 and a DD of OA. Should I install Arma2(dvd version) into the "Steam\steamapps\common" directory seeing as how that is where my DD of OA is going to go or just install it into my standard games directory?

Ok....I did just as I asked in my post and as was mentioned. I completely removed all traces of Arma and then installed the DVD of Arma2 into the steam/steamapps/common folder(not sure if it mattered) and updated it to the latest 1.10. I then downloaded the Steam version of OA into the default directory as it didn't give me an option. OA loaded right up and looking in the extentions tab....Arma2 was there! However, I don't have anything that says Combined Operations.

Hi. Iam trying to link ArmaII + ArmaII reinorcement bundle (OA+BAF+PMC = CO) together. I installed ArmaII and the reinforcements pack to the same directory (bohemia folder) then i patched to 1.10. Everything works fine except when i go to the multiplayer server list the list only shows servers for wichever one i have loaded up, ie: ArmaII vanilla or reinforcements bundle. I would like to be able to see servers for both 1.10 ArmaII vanilla aswell as ArmaII-CO whenever I load up CO. i hate having to exit one and startup the other just to check on what servers are up. Also, in CO i went to my expansion list and it says they are all enabled.

note: After I get this figured out i would also like to link ArmaII & ArmaII-CO with Project reality mod so i can just see what servers are up for all 3.

Also, if I may id like to bring up another problem iam having while iam at it. After installing ArmaII and ArmaII CO I installed PR mod. Now, whenever I try to load up CO I get a huge red ERROR message saying that i didnt load up PR with praa.exe, and that i should abort and load the game with praa.exe. i even tryed going into the directory and running the actual CO exe. And I still get that message. iam forced to remove the @PR mod folder from the directory completely in order to loadup vanilla CO.Then ofcourse when i want to run PR i have to place the mod folder back into place. very annoying. Also it dosent say that iam running the PR mod in my CO target line. i have uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything and still this happened again. Am i doing something wrong by installing PR directly into my armaII directory?

regards
david

from what i have read after reinstall your arma2 OA should be in your arma 2 file but my steam makes arma2 OA seperatly. i have done about 3 fresh installs once my pixle shaders where corupt, even with a admin steam and i check my cashes i am going to do a fresh install after a reset my PC. steam has been nothing but head aches for every game i want mods for. and every time i have a corupt cash steam say it will redownload that file and when i run check chashes again it say the same file has an error redownloading so i odnt understand how that works. Steam is vary bad

I hate Steam, but that aside...........did you run Arma 2 at least 1x before trying to install Arma 2: OA. This is so the needed registery keys are added.
If you do not do that Arma 2: OA will not install inside the A2 folder cause it wont know it is installed.

Every one can make this work, even on Steam. Read the info provided in the first post and use any of the provided links to force a CO install with the Steam version.
You are doing something wrong so make sure to do each and every step.

And, I did not see you state you started Arma 2 at least 1 time before trying to install OA and I think that is your issue.

Hi guys, this is my first post although Im a long time lurker! :p

I just registered to say that using the Arma 2 launcher from Spirited Machine - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8241
lets you run as Combined Ops even if you have A2 and A2OA installed separately, not only that but if you are a Steam user it will work aswell and even better it lets you run the game without the need to even start Steam :D

It is all pretty much self explanatory, but once you have the launcher installed go to the "Launch Options" tab then browse to each of the games .exe files (including the separate Beta install paths if you have them too)
Then set up the "Other Options" and "Performance" sections to your preferences.

Next go to the "Addons" tab and dependent on where you have your addons installed you should see your addons listed under the "Available Addons" section. If your addons are not there then you will have to go to the "Addon Options" tab and add the directory where they are installed by pressing the green cross next to the "Additional Addon Search Directorys" section.

Under the "Addons" tab with your addons showing as available, you can set up groups of addons you wish to launch, for instance in my screenshot below you can see I have the DayZ mod as one group with the addons needed for that mod and then GITS mod in another group.

To add the groups just right click on Addons / Mods within the "Addon Groups" section then choose add new group, you can then right click on that new group and rename it.
Next you need to simply drag the addons you wish to add into this group from the "Available Addons" section over and into your new group.
Finally once you have your groups set up you need to tick the boxes of each group and addons within that group that you wish to be started when you launch the game. Also tick the Addons / Mods box aswell, leaving it unticked means no addons will run when the game is started.

When you have everything setup you can see at the bottom of the Launcher under "Parameters" it shows everything you have setup to run, much like a shortcut would be. To the right of that under "Game Version" you have the choice to start Arma 2 alone, Arma 2 OA alone or to start Arma 2 CO, which is obviously Combined Ops and the option you need to choose before clicking the start button :D

I have installed games with slightly different order:
I have 3 downloads from sprocket. Arma2, Arma2oa and BAF (windows 7 64bit)
I have installed Arma2oa (program files x86) then BAF then patch 1.60.
Then i installed arma2 (program files x86 i had to change it as it was defaulting to program files), updated to 1.05.
then run again the 1.60 patch which updated the arma2 to 1.11
However there was no icon created for the arma2co.
I downloaded the bat file from the BIS thread but it is a bit messy with the cmd window etc...however i did the job.
In order for the co shortcut to be created do i need to unistall everything and install them again with the different order? (arma2-->arma2 patch 1.05-->arma2 oa-->BAF-->arma2oa patch 1.60)
thanks for your help

You can create a shortcut yourself of course.
Just make a shortcut of the OA.exe and edit the target line to add Arma 2 as a mod. I am not 100% sure on that last thing cause you combined both games afterwards and I am not sure what kind of result that gives you.
First make a shortcut of just the OA.exe and start the game to see if it by chance also activated A2 also and so is running in CO. :-)
