Is it possible to change the sound of just one single weapon (in this case, the Mk16 and Mk17) without uploading an entire sound pack?

Sure, just make an addon only changing that particular sound.

Being able to do that with an released soundmod will not be possible. Some are modular but those "modules" will change the same range of weapons etc in each seperate "module".

Can you elaborate a little bit further on what you meant in your reply (sorry, but this sort of thing is new territory for me)?

What I want to do is change the sound of the Mk16 and Mk17 SCAR rifles. I already use the HiFi sound mod (which doesn't change the SCAR rifles), and it would be great if I could get the SCARs to sound the same as, let's say, the M16A4, for instance.

So how do I make my custom SCAR sound addon?

Will I be able to use this custom addon in conjunction with the HiFi sound mod?

Sorry, I really cant help you how to make such an addon as I simply do not know. But, since the HiFi mod does not change the sound, if you create your own mod to change that sound and activate it like any other mod you will be able to use it together with the HiFi mod.

Try to open the Hifi mod to see how it is done and try to do it yourself as well. Its surely not easy but when you dig into it its possible ;-)

Hey, how would i be able to change the .50 cal(M-107) snound to the Call of duty 4 barrett sound?? i have NO idea. plz help. i have arma2 2 OA (with Ace if it matters)

also, if you wanted to lets say switch the sound to the same one of the m16 you could either find a way to extract the file and make a new pbo with it in it, or use this line.

that's the default sound for it.
if you want the hifi sound extract the pbo and look at the cpp file. The only problem i would forsee is that if you play MP and the server using only signed addons.
