Hi everyone, this is my first post here.
I've written maybe one or three posts at the BI forums, so I'm probably very unknown to the arma community.

I've been hanging around Armaholic for months, probably years now.
And I decided that it would be nice to have an Android app to cover the rss feeds.

After a quick search on the Android market, I noticed... well.. there are no apps related to the site.
So I decided to create my own.

If anyone else has any interest in the app I will upload it to the android market.

At the moment it looks like crap, but it retrieves all the news from the site and the items are clickable.

This post is meant to
1. inform you about the app.
And 2. Check if I have the site-owners permission to do this.

Thanks for a great site!

/Robert

Sure you can make such a feed app but you can only release it for free, donations not counted of course but usage should be all free.
Also I would appreciate to see what you have made when done. We could add it to our website as a nice additional feature, thats actually something I would really like :-)

It will of course be free. :-)
I don't consider myself a very good java programmer, and I'm mostly doing this to become a better programmer. If I can provide someone else with something useful, that's just a bonus. ^^

I'm working on it right now, but I expect I will have a fully functional (and hopefully somewhat good-looking) prototype done by the end of the week.

Added 21 hours 41 minutes later:

Three quick images of some work in progress.

The Newsfeed takes you to the RSS feed of Armaholic, showing all recent additions. (Screenshot 2)
The Forum and Website buttons will take you to the forum or website using your phones browser.
The settings... well you get it. (Screenshot 3)

All items are clickable for a website link and information (Though until I figure out how to get images working, it's better to use the web link)

- Need to unpbo the arma sounds for this, haven't found which one, and I'm unsure if I'm violating any copyrights by doing so.

Looks really nice.
I guess its illegal to use the game sounds in your app. However, seeing the goal of this application I think you should contact Placebo (the head moderator on the BI forums) and show him what you are making and ask him if its ok to use the sounds. Maybe they see no problem with it but I guess that also depends on the license they have with the sounds.

I'll send him a pm over at the BI forums and I'll see what he says.
At it's current state it's a simple (and shitty) click sound, as I haven't been able to actually find the radio sound in the pbos.

And the above mentioned arty, is one of the in-game songs. It feels out of place, but it was fun to code.

If I get the thumbs up from Placebo, I will find something more fitting and less annoying. Hehe

I got the ok from BI, :-)
Now I just need to find what pbo it is that holds the radio sound and the combat ambience track.

Besides that, the app is coming along nicely.

The app has been uploaded.
Download from the market, I will paste a qr-code here as soon as the Android Market updates with the info.

You can find the link here!

http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/com.lofgren.armaholic/

A user with an android phone can use an app called barcode scanner to scan this image, and it will instantly take them to the app on the Android market.

I would like to have the app only on the android market to keep the statistics correct (I can't see ammount of downloads and users if it is downloaded from other sources.) But as I figure it, you own the app more than me, in a way. =)

So if you'd like the app as a downloadable file, just send me your e-mail and I'll attach it for you.

Excellent, thanks for the link.
Dont worry, I didnt mean we would host the file ourselves, just want to be able to link to the downloadpage on the android market. I will add it to our homepage.

Thanks for the feed *BRAVO*
