I'm not sure if this behavior is caused by the demo / vs patched retail code ... but here we go...
I have two groups: Group A is a convoy of two Humvs, Group B a squad of 8 Men.
Humv group A has a "load" waypoint, followed by move waypoints
Man group B has a "get in" waypoint synchronized to the Humv "load" waypoint.
When the Humvs reach their "load" waypoint, they stop.
The leader of group B will order several men to get in into the Lead Humv (enough to fill it)
The group B leader will only order men to get into the highest ranking (lead) Humv, even though there is cargo room in the second vehicle for the rest of the men.
Once the lead Humv is loaded, both vehicles in the group drive off to their next move waypoint.
According to the manual, if a "get in" waypoint is synchronized with another friendly vehicle group waypoint, the man units should fill ALL available seats in the friendly vehicles if they don't have vehicles of their own.
If someone could tell me what I am doing wrong I would be extremely grateful.
If my explanation needs further clarification, please let me know as well.
I would attach the mission if I could, but I can't seem to find a FAQ on how to attach a file to one's reply.
I see attach Picture. . yes, that's nice... Link.. uh huh... Email... ok...
Where the heck is "attach file?" Am I too new and do not have permission to do so? I don't have a web server where I can upload my file to a link...
Thank you for offering to have a look at it PMC, and for your suggestions frontline.
I'm hoping I could get the behavior I wanted without having to script. The manual seems pretty clear that a synchronized "get in" waypoint should load everyone into vehicles until there is no more room.
Back to DCS A-10C for awhile! Burrrrerrrrrrrrrrr <--goes the "Avenger" cannon :)
Are your HMVs in a group? if there not, then the ai wont recognize that. I dont know, you can always shoot me an email with the mission if its arma 2, not arrowhead. pm me for the email if you cant attach the file. I check it eveyday, so ill get back to you as quick as i can.
And in a group by them selves. If that doesnt work you may want to make all of them in a group. Hey, you never know!
Yes, the vehicles are grouped together. I can see the group lines converging on the vehicle leader.
The man group is just an inserted riflemen group, although I have tried manually creating a group of several men as well.
So, there are two properly created, and distinct groups.
No matter the number of vehicles in the vehicle group, or the number of men in the man group, once the first vehicle is filled, the rest of the vehicles are not boarded - it is as if the man group only "sees" a single vehicle.
I suspect it may be a bug that was later patched. If any of you has a patched retail version, try it... Make a vehicle group and a separate group of soldiers.
Give the soldier group a "get in" waypoint, synchronized to a vehicle group "move" or "load" waypoint - it doesn't matter which.
Does the vehicle convoy stop? Do any men board the vehicles? If they do board, do they board only one vehicle and ignore the rest?
I'd be curious to know if anyone else can duplicate the problem.
Thank you again everyone for being generous with your time in willing to help.

To answer your question frontline... if the vehicles AND men are in a single group, then yes they board all available vehicles.
It is only when men are in one group, and vehicles in another that it does not work properly.
You can always make a trigger or something simple that adds the soldiers to the vehicle group, and the at the 'unload' waypoint, dismiss them from the group. Thats they easy way, but here on armaholic, we dont like using the easy way!
I've tried joining one group to the other and they do indeed mount all the vehicles in that case. I don't know how to unjoin a group from another, but now that I know it's possible I'll research it and find out.
