I'd like to have the elias sound mod for my game, but I have downloaded it, and it says to put it in the Arma2 directory and such and change the path to xxxxxx -no splash whatever. I don't have that. My path says "steam.something. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks much!

Oh yea, another thing, how do you install that ACE mod thing into a steam game? Or any mod like that? There are several, and none speak of how to install into Steam versions of the game. Can you help me?

Well it doesn't work. I installed the sound mod and this is my new thing:

steam://rungameid/33930 -nosplash -mod=@eliassound2OA

The splash screens come on as they always did, so I assume the sound mod wouldn't work either.

What am I doing wrong? That is an EXACT copy of my target, so if you see something funky it probably is.

There should be a app's folder or somthing in your Steam Directory, inside there somewhere there should be the ARMAII Folder, best thing would be to search for the term "ARMAII" or if that dosn't work the term "addons" what ever folder the 'addons' folder is in is the ARMAII Directory, after that it should all work.

if you have OA then it will be a bit easier as you dont have to make any pathways as it should show up in the expansions menu

Hi dontworrybehappy

I see so many people having problems with steam, I have tried it like this and it worked for me.

My shortcut for ARMA 2:

Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\arma2oa.exe" -window -nosplash -noPause -cpuCount=4 -maxMem=2047 -exThreads=7 -mod=PMC;BAF;@eliassound2OA"

Start in: "c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have run ACE with Steam and this was used with six updater but first i did this:
You need to turn off Automatic updates with steam, this can be found
Start steam go to Game Library and Right click on your "ARMA 2" game
Select "Properties" -> Click on the "Updates" tab.
I have mine set to "Do not automatically update this game"
This should not update your game when you start steam. I don't use the icon steam created for ARMA as this starts up steam if you use one like i have done this will not launch steam. this is my preferred way.
Form what i have found when installing any mods or updates/expansions for ARMA it detects that ARMA is installed in the steam folder and it applies all the information as it would do for the DVD version.
This also allows you to install updates/patch's BIS release, As I found steam does not apply this update straight away. so you have to wait to play on your favorite gaming server. - not any more! ;-)
As i don't use steam all that often i have disabled this from starting up when windows starts.
also if you run ARMA in window mode the size for this window is set in the users ARMA 2 folder found:
"C:\Users\*YOUR LOGON NAME*\Documents\ArmA 2\ArmA2OA.CFG" - This file is the configuration for you display and is viewable in notepad.
Hope this helps you.
If you get stuck PM and i will give you my Skype.
RW
