Operation Gothic Serpent

Description:
2004. Fallujah has been retaken by the Marines during the operation Phantom Fury.
2005. The Rangers arrive in Fallujah to relieve the Corps.


Features:
  • campaign of 10 mission
  • urban combat
  • whole mission "Irene"
  • movie experience (I hope)
  • no intro nor outro, nor cinematic - dunno how it works


  • Installation:
    Extract the .pbo file in your Arma2/Campaigns folder


    Notes:
    - 2 missions of the campaign have already been released as SP mission
    - most of the campaign is about "Irene"
    - according to the fact that I was alone to make this campaign, maybe there is some bugs please comment, so that I can fix them.
    - maybe I forgot some addons - do not hesitate to tell me about it
    - Mission "Irene" takes quite a while to launch (about 1 minute). don't worry, it's normal, the game is not crashed, you just have to wait.

  • fixed: M5 blackhawk didn't move after dropping the rangers
  • deleted: smoke in mission 5 and 6to gain fps
  • changed: M5: made a smaller convoy

    that's cool, I tryed to do the Op "Gothic Serpent" but in the Mogadishu Battle it pushes to much from my PC

    I seem to get stuck at the checkpoint level. Everything just stops when the guy says he is going to get a phone link. Help?

    Strange,mission should end. Anyway,try it again,and if it still doesnt work,use the endmission code to go to the NeXT one.

    Change log:

    Hi!
    I think these missions are great! I find it strange though, that you arm all the Rangers with M16A2's *DONT_KNOW* No worries, I have edited the units for my own pleasure. One question: In the mission "Black Hawk Down" where you are going to rescue the lone Delta at the crash site, I cant find him! He's supposed to stay at the downed helicopter right? When I got there I could'nt find him anywhere and I searched the houses and back yards nearby. Any idea? Also in the same mission when I arrive at the crash site, one AH6 comes for cas but he just stays put hovering above the buildings, not shooting and not moving. Hmm.
    But great campaign man! I am enjoying it very much, thank you *DANCE*

    Hi mate. I equiped the Rangers with M16A2 cause in somalia it is what they had. And for the mission "bhd" the delta boy is next to the crashed chopper normally, defending himself. Then a MH6 (and not a AH6) comes to evacuate him. Strange it doesnt work for you. I have tested it and it works for me and for other ppl. Try again maybe?
    By the way, are you running some other mods? If yes, diable them and try again

    5 mission stuck in loading screen, some trouble with Unitplay function, and use a "-showscripterrors" parameter, when you make your missions, or at least don't forget to name same variables the same way, in "briefing.sqf" you create a "task1" and make a current task as "task", and use variables instead of trigger names with "AND" operator, it spams errors-
    "Error in expression <trigger2 AND ((position super61 select 2) < 1)>
    Error position: <AND ((position super61 select 2) < 1)>
    Error and: Type Object, expected Bool".
    And use a local variable "_x" instead of command "player" if you use "foreach" command.
    Don't use the same variable to store an array and to create a task and don't don't use Undefined variables with "set" and you really don't need a "foreach" cycle in "briefing.sqf" because you don't have switchable units in this mission.

    I didn't uderstand everything youve said, but i Will take a look. For some problem youve met, are you using some mods or addons in addition of those required, like ace for example? If yes try to disable them and retry the missions/campaign. As for me, I just play it with the addons needed and only them and i dont have trouble. Let me know if it is better with nothing more than required

    Man, how could you make a hole campaign and still don't know such simple things? If you want i can PM you fixed mission.
    1'st, 2nd and 4th mission has script errors too, mostly undefined variables. As i said, use the "-showscripterrors" startup parameter to see what's wrong with your scripts.
    # Le_Cardinal : For some problem youve met, are you using some mods or addons in addition of those required, like ace for example?
    I was thinking it's Fallujah 1.1, but with Fallujah 1.2 and only needed addons it's the same problem (ArmA 2 CO 1.59).

    well, you can try to modify the missions for you to work properly.

    I just find that strange, because I have not such problems. I've tested and retested the campaign, and I have no such msg like those you have.

    according to the other feed back, the main problem was at mission 2, cause the civilians vehicles did shit, and sometimes, the end didn't work properly (but it has been modified in v1.2)

    Thanks Wiki for the this very nice campaign,
    I enjoy it very much,
    but often I get stuck at places where triggers don't work, or other strange behavior.

    I've tried V1.3 with the latest Fallujah map and the D-boy still doesnt get in the chopper in BHD mission.
    the chopper is on the ground now waiting for over 20 minutes and the D-boy is next to the BH and he doesn't move....
    one time I saw it land and take off (did not see the D-boy inside but maybe he was there) but after takeoff - it just hovered in place...

    in the beginning of the mission IRENE , if I stay out side the chopper it would still takeoff with engine off...

    the target building is marked wrong in the map - left off the actual building...

    on another mission after the ambush, the BH comes to pick us up, if again I'm too slow to board - it would take off without me.
    If I do get on board, it would land next to the field hospital and not on the marked helipad, and the mission would not end, even if I walk there (marked helipad) by foot after landing.

    Not using ACE or Zeus addons.
    I do use Kelly's heroes KHPACK, but without any AI interference in the addons. it worked great for me in other missions/campaigns so far and in other islands too.

    I hope you can fix it since it's a great campaign! (voice acting could be awesome too;)
