I bought Arma 2 this week off steam. I downloaded the CBA,ACE, and ACEX for mods. I tried using the Spirited Machine Arma2 launcher. I downloaded all this from the site and after i added the mods to the launcher and try and start it I get an error message saying "Include file userconfig\ace\ace_clientside_config.hpp not found"
What do i do? Is it something with steam?

Hi redfable, I haven't heard good things about Steam. From what I have been reading, its plagued with problems. I suggest disable the mods and see if that helps. But I'm sure there are more knowlegable people about this out there that can help you more than me.

The error you get has nothing to do with you having a STEAM version. It just means you didn't configure your ACE client side settings.
Do this to fix it.
First write down your ARMA2 OA nickname ingame presicely. than follow this.

Browse to <OA folder>/@ACE/store
Opwn userconfig.tar and extract userconfig folder to <OA folder>
You should now have <OA folder>/userconfig/ace/ folder with ace_*.hpp files in it
Go to your <OA folder>/userconfig/ace folder
Open ace_clientside_config.hpp
Find (without slashes infront)

The below was a little different with me. But basicly it say's replace John Doe in that file with your own profile nickname. That should fix it.

class Identity {
name = "John Doe";
};
Replace John Doe with your profile name, e.g. name = "Sandiford";

I only have Arma 2 not OA does that effect anything you just said beside the folders?

If your using ACE yes, as that is your issue just follow winchester's advice and you'll be playing in no time.

this is an ACE related question too so for future problems please post in the right place.

"Include file userconfig\ace\ace_clientside_config.hpp not found" not found"

How you thought this might be STEAM I will never understand :-D

Your Profile name is the name that you put for the character you are using. In your ARMA 2 Settings, in player profile, you will see you name that you use as the player.

Added 43 seconds later:

Also, thanks winchester for that part about changing the name from John Doe to Malcolm I can now use goggles in mp.

Can help with ARMA 2 Problems.
