Hi all its only a beta so all is work in progress I have found some top end cards seem to get the out of memory play around with settings in game and also max mem and cpu on start up as this seems to have stopped the crash that a few have had

Some walls low rock are being taken out for ai to enter exit fields also more clutter bushes and life will be added I also have to tidy up the mask_lco as some ploughed fields spill over into the channels.

Map has been cleared of all dead models and also all models have been hand placed no world tools so its a long process placing and correcting models to look at work right gaps for roads have been made wider for ai to get through easily and more roads will come.

Next release will have the keys for servers so please any more errors or comments keep em comming

Also please could an addon maker make some Taliban and Pushtun fighters or maybe some Northern alliance fighters to give the map a real enemy thanks all enjoy

Hi mate, great map again.

but please remove the walls of OPX you occupy in the city of the west. you can go THROUGH them without problems XD.

the problem of memory, we happened on your map, and even podagorsk .... we solve it by changing the init distance vision at 1200m. (above 2000m)

Hi ill take a look at the opx walls in west maybe just the config is messin up for that wall ill fix it or remove it.

You can disregard what I said about the tress smokedog, I have just seen the same effect on takistan, never really noticed it before, I guess the only reason I saw it with yours was because I had speed set to 4x while in the editor. :-D

Hola from Afghanistan!!!!

i just spent near enough a full day playing on this map whilst travelling over here lol

FREAKING AMAZING MAP!!!!!!!!!!!

1 or 2 problems i found;
1st is the disappearing/reappearing trees, grass, and general foliage including some weird flashing grass and flower textures that show through walls (near the town areas, especially Sangin)
2nd is a crazy shadow problem i have found with my models, if i look down my shadow (in 1st person) it looks awesome but when i look up to eye level the shadow turns VERY basic! i have some videos to show you, unfortunately i don't have any editing software on my laptop and my graphics are nowhere near as nice as my desktop but this is all i could bring with me lol

i will post the videos asap lol ( i just realized that my connection over here isn't as good as over there)

Yo smokedog, has anybody reported issues with the map loading slow? it often stops responding to up to 30seconds before loading a mission in editor (in-game) or mp-mission.

On a more off topic note..... smokedog is a teamkiller :-D

Reminds me of a problem im having with my new maps! something to do with the new files were using from OA.
Possibly the cloud files or textures... still not found a solution :-(

Very nice. I love the look, Good for some BAF missions no doubt. I just wanted to add one little bit though, I used DaveGarys Rangers with this maps first release, added a couple of goons to shoot at in and around the compounds and here is what I found. The AI seem to be having a really hard time getting around on the map primarily in the Marijuana fields they seem to be getting stuck. Ill be downloading the new release now. I was going to comment last week just never got around to it.

Hey, keep your head Down and Chin up Dave. Love the Rangers All the Way.

Last week, I was thinking: "the only thing that is missing on this amazing map is grass everywhere...". And today, by starting reading Armaholic frontpage, what am I seeing? That is done...!!! Woohoo! *YAHOO*

Now, this is one of the better free map of the game that I played!

I was really skeptical about this map after seeing the tiny screenshots but I noticed the positive comments on the announcements & download pages and decided to give it a try. I'm really glad I did since it's a very nice map. If you surrounded the center area of this map with the mountainous area of Chill's ToraBora map, I think BI would have no choice but to hire you both! ;)

Here are a few notes I jotted down while testing out the map...
  • the large lake/pond areas to the north& south...are they going to remain?
  • the urban areas seem to be all on the outer edges of the central/green area. Outside that zone is just so blank and empty that it seems a bit odd. I think it's because one side of an urban area is lush vegetation while the other is perfectly flat nothing.
  • some of the cannabis fields are so dense that it's almost impossible to move. A bit more spacing might be good.
  • I really like the way the map isn't so structured...even the urban areas have a really nice organic feel to them. Reminds me of the Afghan Village map by Opteryx...and it's not just the fact that you used some of the same buildings!
  • You really need to make decent-sized screenshots. Seriously, the ones currently up on the Armaholic page are just so small that they just don't give the slightest indication of just how much potential this map has.

I realize that this is a beta, though, and I look forward to future versions. Great work!

    Grats on the map.

    Great map, but when I sad down and started to make a mission I realised that the AI would look straight through the green grass fields. Please, PLEASE either remove or lover this grass so that you can see over it when at least sitting down. It kills the map totally that there allmost is no defense for AI shooting you through grass at 600 meters while laying down :(

    The map in general is awesome though! :)
