# VIPER[CWW] : You wont be able to install any mods with ArmA 2 Free.

But, if you have Operation Arrowhead you can of course install addons which require OA. How this will turn out when you run a CO install with the full official OA and the A2: free I dont know (if thats even possible, sorry I am not up to date with A2: FR)

I cant find anything about my question, but i have a feeling that i might be able to do it, since the mod is to OA, but just requires small stuff from A2

Being specific helps a lot in getting a specific answer. :) Which mod exactly, got a link for it?

It says no requirements, but in comments the creator says it needs ArmA2 roads

That's an awesome island. :)

Seems to work just fine with OA + ArmA2Free. The menu's are a bit messed up and of course all the A2 stuff is blurry, but I was able to start up, get in the editor, plop down A2 content and fully interact with OA content.

Well, I might have spoke too soon. Game locked up trying to abort the preview.

So it "kinda works" but really you wanna buy the game. :) Combined Ops is only $5-10 more than OA on it's own usually.

Yup, sure is. That's the same setup I have here at work. DVD OA + Steam A2. Works fine if you use a launcher like ArmA II Launcher.

Though if you can afford it I'd get ArmA X. It's $60 for all ArmA products directly from BIS.

If you get A2 from Steam it's $20. Then you'll need another $20 for the DLCs eventually. So that's basically $40 right there. Think of the extra $20 as a tip to BIS for making awesome games. ;) You also get all the soundtracks and a bunch of extras too.

But if you just wanted to piecemeal it, adding A2 via Steam would be fine.
