Hi All,

Is there a fast/easy way to ID friendly or enemy troops.

Im new to Arma2 OA and i was playing in the project reality servers for the first time over the weekend. The kits of the opposing forces seem to me to be very similar.

In game i was constantly checking the map if i spotted what i thought was enemy. If they didnt appear on map they were fair game. But this is a clunky method to ID with and dangerous when the enemy is close by.

Just wondering if there are any key parts of a soldiers kit that people focus on so they can get a quick ID? Or is it just experience and time in game to get your eye tuned in?

Cheers

Here's how I do it:

If you have an ACOG or Bnoculars on you, zoom in on them and look at their camo, the way they're dressed, the weapon they're holding. But since you're facing Takistani's, here's what to look for.
A guy with a turban carrying a weapon wearing civilian clothes. This is Team towelheads *ROFL* A.K.A Takistani Militia.

A guy wearing steelpot helmet wearing olive drab. Takistani Army.

ACU - US Army

UNO - Blue Helmet

US Army Rangers- Often Mistaken For the Wrath Of God...

LMAO, ive sort of worked out IDing team towelhead :-D

The problem is with two similar army kits freeze me like a deer in the headlights.

Massive apologies to the guy i team killed on the weekend! I stumbled across him hiding behind some sandbags. As he spun around to face me i swear he had a different colour camo on. In that instant i fired and unfortunately took his online life and sent him back to spawsnville. Sorry dude, i immediately hit `esc' and clicked on suicide. =-O

Would be cool if there was a side by side comparison of camo kits that could be referenced...for an idiot like myself. It would make Takistan a safer place *JOKINGLY*

Well, after awhile of playing you will just be able to tell. What I like to use as a refrence for friendly or foe is the helmet.the RU helmets are more cone shaped than the US helmets. And ya, using binoculars or any scope is a + in identifying targets if you have to.
