Hi Folks,

This is my first post and so far I have done my best to stay away from the forums thanks to the massive community behind ARMA2.

My query is this:

I am testing a script which will make a pilot who is standing outside the aircraft appear inside the aircraft and then wait. Unfortunately, the problem is in making the pilot wait while in the aircraft.

Currently my external script reads:

F18Pilot moveInDriver F18;

Now, when the pilot boards the aircraft (the FDF F18 Mod) he just takes off, no waypoints or destination - he just leaves.

I have tried to stop him using "engineOn false" and "F18 doStop" (plus "F18Pilot doStop"). I'm afraid I might be getting the syntax wrong as I literally just started using scripting about two days ago for the first time in my life. I have read through plenty of tutorials and I can't seem to find anything addressing this issue.

for the record, when using other commands, my script looks like this:

F18Pilot moveInDriver F18;
F18 engineOn false;

I'm sure somebody can see my error.

Help would be appreciated.

Regards.

It would be
doStop F18;

If that doesn't work try removing fuel from the plane and giving it back when you want it to move again.

Also instead of moveInDriver, which will essentially teleport the guy into the plane, try something like:

F18Pilot assignAsDriver F18;
F18Pilot orderGetIn true;

That'll make him walk up to and get into the plane instead of just appearing there.

The other concern is, will the player actually see this pilot getting into the plane? If not, why bother with all of this and just start the plane normally. :)

Thanks Pirin.

I'm just playing around at the moment, trying to get a grasp on the syntax and see how everything goes together, so I'm not necessarily putting this into a mission, per se. I've challenged myself to make a very simple airstrike script using the radio and a map marker - this was just part of the learning curve!

Thanks for your reply, mate and I'll try the remove fuel option too.

Moved to editing/scripting, troubleshooting is not meant for troubles getting your script to work.
Topic title changed, the title should be descriptive and reflect the issue, not that you have an issue, thats pretty obvious.
