Hy, I have joined the website time ago when I was starting to play Armed Assault, sadly I stopped playing but now I'm back because I have a PC that can run OA and I really need your help since I suck at this game so any kind of advices would be handy. I really like the game, all the features that it has and the idea of a war simulator (I'm kinda bored to kill 400 enemies by myself in COD) so I wish to get better at it. I'm assuming that practice is the most necessary thing in this game...

What precisely do I suck at lol? Hitting someone is pretty hard, in the first mission I find myself having to kill an enemy that is 80m away and 2 things happen: I hit him after firing between 3 and 10 rounds or he kills me after I miss. The second problem is regarding "stealth"...because I played a lot of arcade FPS games I'm not used to get behind cover and stuff and I believe this is why I get killed or just hit so often in this game but even when I lay down and try to move behind a rock I still get hit...I think you guys know what I'm talking about and how much I suck but trust me, I got potential :D:P...to make it more clear, it's like telling a street racer to do the job of a driving instructor...it's hard not to floor it and drive fast.

Thank you and have a nice day

PS - I couldn't find precise infos about this, someone should explain me how to aim when using the grenade launchers, I don't understand anything from the...I don't know how it's called in English, the lines that help you aim...it's a mission in the training area to hit a group of targets with the grenade launcher

Aiming - practise, practise and practise. Keep in mind bullets drop on long shots, than you have to aim a little higher to compensate for that.
If units are moving aim in front of them. Hold your breath (default is right mouse button I think) while shooting.
Aim through your sights, do not try to hit target using the crosshair, you can use it but that requires even more practise on long shots and is only usefull to shoot at an enemy really close IMHO.

Stealth - AI can hear and/or see you.
Use terrain cover a lot, move slowly behind bushes, lay down. Again, practise :-)
It can be frustrating at first but if you spend some time doing all this you will see results!

Grenade launchers - The default aim of the grenade launchers never made sense to me. Use them a lot and learn where the grenade lands/explodes when you tilt your weapon xx much. Do this a lot and you will get the hang of it. I guess some custom addons/mods do have proper working aimdevices for the launchers but by default I don't think they make much sense.
I remember a guy posted a bunch of screens a while back on the BI forums about how to use the grenade launchers, maybe you can find that topic.

I do the same thing as you with the grenade launchers, try and error basically and then learning where the grenade will "arrive".

Stealth - it's not that frustrating, it seems a bit weird but I'm guessing this is what I have to do, always stay behind cover when shooting at someone.

About aiming, yes I know the basics about it (aiming in front of the target if it moves and about the bullet slightly dropping on long shots), I just can't hit something...well maybe I'm rushing, I only played about 2 hours so I'll keep practicing.

I have a problem with some buttons, like you said, to hold your breath you need to hold right mouse button...that doesn't work...right mouse button is also assigned for the sights but if I press it the camera will zoom...only Numpad 0 is working for the sights even though right mouse button is also assigned for this.

I'll come back when I'll need more help, right now I'm having a hard time learning all the tank commands...I'm stuck at the 2nd mission so I went back to the boot camp

Thanks for your help

Click the right mouse button don't hold it. I think I spent about three months not knowing the game had ironsights, lol.
And when in combat, if you're standing you're gonna die no matter what, so stay down and find cover.

find yourself a group of people to play with, as you play with them you loose your COD habbits cause u dont wanna look like an idiot, try following people before you lead. look at it as real life, you would never just cross the street without looking left and right, so cover left and right and then cross. be smart about it.

NEVER EVER Use full auto at medium to long range, Burst with automatic weapons or use the burst mode or single fire mode. Also Whenever possible go prone to give you the highest amount of accuracy and lowest profile. Grenades are your best friend, 1 Well placed grenade (as I have learned many times) can clear a room of hostiles very eaisly. If your running ace mod, FLashBangs are great for clearing rooms with Hostiles and "Civis"; Also getting on the .50 Cal of a HMMWV is a big mistake if your new, especialy because you dont kill targets quick enough and eventually you draw all the fire and die.

@thedog, that's what I'm trying to do, act like in real life. But every time I spot an enemy, by the time I get down I'm dead...and even while laying down, it still manages to hit me if I don't find something to get behind. But I'm getting the hang of it, as I said, I just started playing.

@Sup3r6f0ur, 95% of the time I'm using single fire mode. I haven't started using mods and add-ons, I'm sticking to the compaign for now :D

to be honest I would like (actually I would love) to join multiplayer sessions as a helicopter pilot, transporting troops, equipment, rescue missions, extractions and stuff like that. I'm better at flying hellis then at shooting lol. But I don't have any kind of experience with the multiplayer mode.

BYW, sorry if I'm asking for something that I shouldn't but can I find a trainer or some kind of cheat to unlock the vehicules in the armory? I would like to try the helicopters but I can't since they all are locked (except one)

Incase you did not know completing the story mode will unlock the entire armory.

Just go in the editor and mess around, that's what I did, and if you want to add me on steam I would love to have another guy to play with. I'll send you a PM with my steam info.

Your biggest curve is the situational awareness in game. Having that is key! Realize you have legs that stick out behind an object and such. This game renders your whole player model. Be aware of what part of your body is showing or sticking out behind cover or in a window that the enemy can see. If you can see there toe sticking out then they can see yours. Also if you see an enemy... immediately find cover to engage them behind with some safety, don't engage them on first sight by trying to go prone and quick draw them. You may get one but his buddy AI will then promptly shoot you. Keep trees, bushes and any cover you can in front of your approach to an area of operation. Once again,if you can see them then they can see you. Also, get yourself a good mouse pad, it helps. Also adjusting your "smoothing" in you game settings (try lowering it).

think outside the box - i honestly am making myself do impossible missions just because i look at things differently.

armory - do most of the challenges it gives you with everything you can, and you will be very good at whatever you need
