Hi, here is a SP mission that has been sitting on my HD for a while. Hope the community likes it:

After a week long lull in the Takistan AO, a Czech special forces team is suddenly propelled into action. They have to investigate a suspicious incident in a small village which raises suspicion that the Takiban are tightening their grip on Takistan following an international intervention.

Requirements: Arma2: Combined Operations

Mediafire Download

Have fun!

Mathias

hi mathias_eichinger
i've just finished your mission.

it's a good mission, however it was quite easy and short.
to me, it's more supposed to be an intro to a campaign than a SP mission.

nevertheless, i didn't notice any bug, and the atmosphere was really good.
do you have more work like this?

Hey wiki, thank you for giving this a spin. You spot that right, it was supposed to be the intro mission of a campaign, but then the dreaded "looks like FADE bug" kicked in.
Explanation: FADE is a copy protection used by BIS since OFP, whereas in illegitimate copies, parts of the game are deleted until it becomes unplayable over time. I have bought the original since OFP but I am suffering from this bug a few times a year (units and triggers disappearing from what you placed in the editor). Note that this mission is in a rather finished state, but I scrapped the 2 others and released this one before they could go further down the bug drain.

If you want to test some other works from me, please go to OFPEC and test my "Operation Aqua Lion". I already posted this request in one of your threads over there.

I tried the mission out, loved the intro but on heli insert the chopper hovered for awhile then flew in circles endlessly. Could be one of the mods I have running possibly. It does seem very nice, the story telling seemed really well made. Hope you can get your issues sorted and make more.

Need to check my mission again - did not play it since 1.60. Wiki, did you have the same issue?

i always test missions in vanilla version, and it worked perfectly well for me.

as he says, it may comes from the mods he was running

Hi mathias,

Tried your mission in CO v1.60 w/o any mods.

The briefing was informative & to the point. The helo insertion was nicely done, but the long sentence dialogs appeared rushed. Probably, just a slightly longer delay to view the dialog would be nice.

Helo dropped us off & then spooled down the engines.

Interaction with the doctor went well. With the mayor, long sentences again, feel rushed.

Upon entering the courtyard to set up overwatch, the helo spooled up and left the area. It gave me a feeling that it loaded some of the wounded for medevac. Transition to nighttime was a nice touch.

The late night arrivals were quickly dispatched. Intelligence was recovered by a quick body search. I was looking for goodies (e.g. grenades) & was surprised. Your hint did come up to inform me of the intel as I was searching the second body.

Denying air assets for extraction drew me deeper into the mission. Now the pressure is on. Another nice touch. But I lost some info with the dialogs being cut short.

We all climbed into the SUV & made a mad dash for the airport. As we approached Chak Chak at 98 kph, swerving around the burning barrels, we did not draw any enemy fire. Guess we were just lucky & spoofed them.

In the town of Huzrutimam, our luck became even better. Speed was down to 45 kph on approach & then we ran out of fuel. A short recon of the town revealed 2 trucks. Guard was quickly dispatched, one truck commandeered, & we were off to the races again. Never did see the occupants of the empty trucks. I also like the fact that you are not overwhelmed by hordes of enemy forces.

The rest of the trip to the airbase was uneventful. The meeting with the officer giving instructions was another nice touch. It gave a polished finish to the ending.

And last but not least, we come to the outro. This was very well done. It was a blast (pun intended). I felt there will be a continuation to this story. It leaves me wanting more. More involvement with more missions in this story.

Keep up the GOOD work.

Hey Old Grey Ghost,

thank you for your kind words... this story will most likely not continue, but it appears that my story tellilng abilities are not completely off the wall. ;)
Now I feel motivated to try again on a small campaign (no real idea on the setting though).

Glad to hear there will be more coming. I enjoyed this one because it was short.

I also was curious why I wasn't attacked going thru Chak Chak. Loaded it up once more. This time when extracting with the mayor, I checked the fuel gauge. (Shouldn't have bothered)

Everything was about the same till I entered Chak Chak. After passing the barrel, running down the middle of the street was this squad of soldiers. Took out two. It's not fair though, roadkill doesn't count for score.

In the next town, the littlebird took care of the heavywork, just leaving 1 or 2 to mop up. Stole the truck and continued on to the base. Got to see my favorite ending.

It seems there is just enough random action in this mission to make it replayable. I'll try pulling your Lions' tail next. Let you know how I fare..
