Oh noes, not this thread again...
I like the AI alot, but their "stats" are just really hard to deal with, whenever I engage, unless we're all behind hard cover and intend to stay there until we die of old age, after 5 seconds, all we'll hear is a loud crack or a burst then one of us drops dead, repeat until we're all dead in under a minute.
Obviously not so hard cover then...
I've also had occasions where I got pinned down by almost pinpoint accurate MGs shooting at me full auto from 500m and the only reason I wasn't dying was because of hard cover, but the cover itself was turning into swiss cheese.
Yeah, it's normal that MGs fire at full auto. That's why they are called 'machine guns'.
However your impression that they fire with pinpoint accuracy from 500 meters is just an illusion. Or how you can tell that it's 500 meters when it's maybe just 250?
Even at night time when the enemy has no NVs or even day time when we're got a good jump on them with a good position, they somehow spot us and instantly zero in to our distance and accurately pick us off all within 5 seconds.
Just a few days ago I replied here in a thread that it's just not true. And so did many people before in numerous other threads.
They may not see you, but they can 'hear' you. And if you fire at an AI at night they see the muzzle flash. And also because they can hear, they are able to pinpoint your firing location by that, especially if you shoot at them repeatedly from the same direction.
Or the AI that sees you through bushes.
Also said a million times by now: Bushes provide no 100% concealment. Period.
... would make getting up and running way to another cover a much better option than just getting up and dying to the accurate gunfire of everyone within a 2 km radius.
Now it's no more 500 meters, but 2km accurate gunfire... Sorry dude, I guess you have no idea how much 2 kilometers are.
This is simply impossible because there is no terrain that is flat enough that an AI sniper can see you from a 2 km distance.
However if you really want to turn this game into some stupid CoD clone with brainless AI:
Options->Game Options->Difficulty->Select difficulty level->Edit
At "Enemy Units" you can change their skill levels.
However, if you set their skill level to 0.2 and in a mission it's set to 0.5 they will have an average value which is somewhere between the two, in above example between ~0.3 and 0.4.
Best advise is to get familiar with an AI which is way smarter than the 'victims' in the usual shooters around.
