This mission keeps within the realm of my ongoing study of modern black ops (Kony hunt, JPEL, etc.), this time I'm incorporating SAS/SBS and MI6 against the backdrop of the Libyan civil war. Real life is just too wild for fiction, you can get some really incredible reference for a mission if you dig deep enough past all the wacky conspiracy theories.

Requirements:
Arma CO
BAF Expansion
SpecOps, Mercs, BlackOps and OpFor units - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=13732
Aliabad - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=16711

Synopsis:
Before the UN passed Resolution 1973, which authorized the Libyan No-Fly Zone and initiated Operation Ellamy, the BAF's involvement within Operation Odyssey Dawn, the Ministry of Defense had a major crisis on their hands that threatened to implode relations with the newly-formed National Transitional Council (NTC), an amalgamation of resistance fighters, mercenaries, and army defectors. On March 6, 2011, a deep-cover MI6 agent posing as a diplomat, along with his 7-man SAS E-squadron escort, went dark while attempting to meet with the local resistance to provide special arms and tactical support. The "official story" states that they were released by the rebels after embarrassing negotiations, but details concerning an Op. Fish Hook, conducted the following evening on March 7, were leaked to the public. An SAS/SBS contingent from C-Squadron was inserted outside of Benghazi, where it linked up with a pair of advance SAS JTAC and "Smash" (Special Demo) teams already in-country preparing the battlespace for the no-fly zone. The combined SAS/SBS contingent then proceeded into the city in pursuit of the missing MI6 asset and his attache, cutting through heavy fighting and receiving fire from both factions involved in the civil war.

Order of Operations:
I - Insertion
II - Sabotage LAF AA Site
III - Rally with SAS/SBS "Smash" team and SAS JTAC team
IV - **PRIORITY** Locate and rescue MI6 agent (3-7 missing SAS team *optional* objectives)
V - Exfil/Evac

I decided to work on a new mission while I tangle deeply with my other WIP mission, JPEL 1. This one will not be nearly as dialogue-heavy, but it will be filled with action, ambient combat, war crimes to discover as secret objectives.

Progress report:

~ Added music to this mission, which is a first. Turns out it's pretty easy. You have to have the music volume set tho, I had it turned off and would normally have missed it
~ May need to find some British voice actors if possible, it would really give this mission a big boost.
~ Been working on using functions that pass local variables instead of global ones, as well as randomization-- so if you talk to a friendly member of the NTC, you will get one out of three possible responses from each of them. If they die, you can instead search for their bodies and see if there is any helpful intel.
~ Refined the Libyan Armed Forces (Ghaddafi-friendly OPFOR) Anti-Air/Early-Warning emplacement
~ Added a small NTC observation post, which you will learn about if you speak to the NTC or search their bodies.
~ If you search the LAF camp, you can find a map marked with all locations known by the LAF- outposts, guard stations, supply posts, "suspected" rebel positions, etc. (there will be an NTC map as well)
~ You can also seize the Hard drives of laptops, and after about a 5-minute wait, MI6 intel analysts will send you an intel report, which you can review in your notes

So once you clear the AAA site, you will be able to receive transmissions from the SAS JTAC and "Smash" (Spec ops demo) teams, which you must rendezvous with before setting out to find the missing MI6 agent (your primary objective). There will also be 4 or 5 bonus objectives involving finding the members of the MI6 agent's SAS attache.

Update + Screenshots:

Things are going pretty well so far, Phases I and II are now complete. I have been working on adding intel you can uncover throughout-- seizing a laptop or an enemy map will now give you more information while on-mission. You will unlock map markers and even troop strength reports if you keep your eyes peeled for intel. Also began adding mass graves, which you can photograph (complete with camera shutter effect and sound), and add to a count of how many atrocities you can spot as evidence against the Ghaddafi regime. Now, instead of simply clearing the AA site, you must clear it of troops first, then upload a special code cipher that will SABOTAGE the AA radar, allowing the HMS Cumberland you insert from via inflatable boat (F85 aka Foxtrot 8-5) to stay hidden. It also allows you to get in touch with the SAS teams already on the ground, which you must RENDEZVOUS with as part of Phase III.

Still tons to do, but things are starting to advance once more.

Some screens to whet your appetite:

Your team (initially) for Phase I and Phase II of the mission (real news reports are inconsistent, some say SAS troops wore black fatigues, others were in plainclothes...this mission assumes that both types were present on the ground):

Sniper doesn't have a callsign yet, but it won't be "Ghost"...

Once you land, it's up to you how to approach Phase II:

Some enemies are on patrol, while others guard specific areas:

Make sure you see him before he sees you:

The LAF is brutal when alerted to your presence, best to catch them off-guard:

There are many ways of attacking and defending the AA site:

And, here are the Dossier photos (which appear as an attachment in the briefing) for the guys you need to Rendezvous with for Phase III of the mission:
