This is a pretty bizarre thing I have experienced. I am trying to get some units into a chopper that is already spun up using a scipt given to me by F2Ksel and Pirin:
//null=[helicopter1,helipad1,unit1] execvm "down.sqf"
_veh = _this select 0;// chopper
_pad = _this select 1;// heli pad
_grp = _this select 2;// group getting in

_veh setpos getpos _pad;
_veh land "GET IN";
_veh flyinheight 0;
_veh engineon true;

// force it down for five secconds so it doesn't try and take off
while {time <5} do {
	_veh setvelocity [0,0,-0.1];
	sleep 0.01;
};
// wait until all units in group are in heli
waituntil {{_x in _veh}count units _grp  == {alive _x} count units  _grp};

// allows heli to move again
_veh flyinheight 50;
but they keep running into the back rotor blades and killing themselves. I was wondering if there was a work-around of some sort? e.g. turning off their AI functions until they are dumb, walking, spuds.

This is an ACE2 thing (blades being able to main or kill) is it not?
So if it is, this really needs to be in the ACE2 thread.

1st - Check The Rules! 2nd - Use The Search!

Not to worry, I have solved the problem.

It's not just an ACE issue.

I think it's a vehicle thing, the UH-1Y is really bad for this but the MH60 works perfectly.

Even just placing the UH-1Y and having units get in they get stuck, what usually happen is the UH-1Y lifts off a touch allowing the unit to pass under then it pops down again.

The script is forcing the UH-1Y to stay on the ground so the above can't happen.

I noticed that it's always the leader who fails to get in, So I tried removing the leader and it seems fine now but it has to be done a certain way.

place in leaders init.
blue setdamage 1;null=[] spawn{sleep 1;blue hideobject true}

no promises as I said before somewhere choppers do the strangest things for no reason.

Yeah, I did notice that, I just put a move waypoint next to the UH-1Y, then a get in waypoint. The leader goes to walk into the blades, then stops about 5cm off, and hops in the chopper XD

Yes positioning is critical, even then on another day they may start running in the blades again.

It took me about 10 minutes to get them to start running into the blades today then they wouldn't stop.

As predicted, your script performs flawlessly. They started to run into the blades again so I tried your script, they still do it, but now they can get out of it. They do it less often too.
