If anyone could design this SP mission for me it would be greatly appreciated, I am really not that good with the Arma II Editor, and that sucks because everyone else says its easy as 2+2.

Battle of Longewala
2000 Infantryman w/ 60 Tanks & 20 Jeeps attacking an Indian defensive position on a high sand dune of 120 Indian Soldiers w/ small arms, anti tank RPGs, and mortars. The Indians had the air support of four airplanes attacking from over head.

A few things... Arma mission making is NOT easy as 2+2.. whoever told you that is pulling your leg. If you have previous experience in scripting or took some coding courses at school you will have good tools to work with.. but even then it is not a simple task. I've been fiddling with the editor, etc for about a year now and I feel as I am just getting out of the 'noob' stage 8-)

Second your request will be very difficult to fill as anything over about 500 AI units will REALLY slow down your system.. not even sure 500 is good.. most I've seen or tried has been in the 300-range.. and my PC was grinding to a halt.

Bless you my son.

Yeah, most i tried was kinda the maximum: 144 groups, so around 700 units, on lingor. Using DAC helped a bit, but i couldn't get above 20 FPS or so. The loading time was about two minutes.

Hmmm.. I've used DAC quite a bit and never seem to be able to get those numbers without major lag. I find once DAC gets above 100 groups or so it really starts to choke on itself... but perhaps that is something with my setup or DAC config.

Bless you my son.

In that particular setup the units were disseminated all over the map, so only a little portion of them were uncached at any moment.(maybe two three groups, up to 5 or 6 in populated areas).
I just fired a up a light version of this (i think i did that originally to add ALICE on top of this, but i renounced) to check if i didn't dream this:
46 AI zones
around 620 units (depending on each launch)
115 DAC groups plus mine.

My computer claims that i'm running 50 fps on totally unhabited areas (the northwest little Island on lingor), and 25 mini in heavily populated zones (Maruko).
Now I believe it's a bit optimistic and i must have drops at around 10.
That's running a whole lots of mods on top of this (ACE, all ACEXs, all Lingor associated mods and units, bb_oa_mercs, ASR_AI, ad_helos...).
Now don't get me wrong. I have absolutely no other script running on this, and the AI is probably dumber than a rock. I'll keep it loaded see if that degrades.

Anyway, doesn't change anything to the point: 2000 units, fighting, don't even dream about this, unless you work for the NASA.

Edit: Uh oh, wrong. I actually have ALICE enabled on this :-D
But the enemy AI is dumb as hell and won't shoot me, even when i'm very close.
Re-edit: wrong again. I actually had myself set as captive. %)
Wait. This might actually be a playable mission?

Interesting thanks for the explanation.. yes I'm sure the caching helps a lot if groups are widely dispersed. Also your AI won't be THAT dumb if you have ASR_AI running.

I know it's OT.. but do you use the built in ACE DAC modules or script version? I find the module version more headache than it is worth but perhaps it is because I change so much from the defaults....

Bless you my son.

I actually use the separate DAC Mod. I know it's stupid, but believe me or not when i set that up i hadn't even noticed ACE actually includes it.
