First, thank you for doing a proper search before posting! *THUMBS UP*
However, I decided to split your post from the thread you posted in anyway, it was an old thread and about campaigns. This could be a usefull thread to others in the future as well who can not find their installed MP missions so a new thread is justified.

About your problem, the MP mission you downloaded is it for the island you have selected? Cause Chernarus missions will need to have Chernarus selected. So if the MP mission you downloaded is for (for example) Lingor Island but you select Chernarus on your server you will not see the mission, you need to select lingor Island.

Make sure they are PBO;s
Make sure they are in a folder called MPMissions (not MP_Missions or anyhting)
In the Campaign folder if a campaign (create folder if non exists)
has the correct pbo.extension (missionin.takistan or thismish.chernarus)
It is important the extension is the Island in question
and finally, as Fox pointed out, make sure you have the said Island (map)

(If we are talking Mission Editing Files they'd be in your Users/pcname/Arma2 directory un-pbo'd)

....that's all folks....!

Of if your ArmA name differs from your PC name under Documents/ArmA 2 Other Profiles/ArmAName/missions/ folder. :)
