Hi,
I'm designing a mission right now, where two Operating Bases are apart of approx. 20 km. Since I'm playing only with ACRE, I was wondering if there is any way to broadcast radiomessages across this distance. I placed some ACRE Antennas, but they don't seem to have any effect.
I would be thankful for help,
TheShooter

Any of these should do, they both have a range of up to 20Km.
  • AN/PRC-119 man pack radio
  • AN/PRC-117F man pack radio

I'm sorry, but I tried them all. Even the PRC-119 at PA-Mode wasn't able to broadcast longer than 1 KM. (There were some hills in the way though)
So communication to mid-air jets, or far away bases is not possible with ACRE!?
Thank you for your reply.

1km is default broadcast range on all radio's you need to manually input 20000 on the man packs. Are sure you have done this, just switching to PA wont achieve that. Maybe watch the many tutorials out on youtube.

And yeah hills will affect broadcast range, you would still be able to hear someone 20km away just not very clearly, md -air jets you should be able to hear very clearly even at 5km radio range as the below video shows.

Yes, of course I put the broadcastrange up to 20000. But I was still not able to communicate with peaple over 20 km. (Map was CLA Afghan) I'm asking myself, how it's possible for a jet-pilot to communicate with his HQ, when he is over 20km away? Since you can't take 117fs, or 119s in your jet or helicopter (as a pilot). With the 119, I was able to broadcast messages over 8 km (at 20000 mW).
I would be really thankful, if somebody can tell me where the problem is.

The Shooter

Up to 20km range. Not over. ;-) And if it's a very hilly map then that is the reason you can't broadcast, your best asking the devs directly over at bi forums.

I read, when you broadcast with a 119 from a vehicle, you can transmit with 40000 mW of power. But even with this brute force, I'm still not able to communicate at 20km.
I will have a look in the BI forums.

IIRC, alot of air vehicles have Radio Racks on ACE, thus you can have a handheld to talk to your FAC, and use the Rack to talk to HQ.
