This script allows players to view PIP livefeeds from the helmet-cameras of their fellow groupmembers.
Now you can visually keep track of your team as they clear a building for you.
Features:
Realistic camera-positioning. The camera is placed right where the camera on the (default) helmet-model is and follows head-movement.
Switch between livefeeds of your groupmembers with a single button (* on Numpad by default)
Equipment dependent. LiveFeeds are only available when you're wearing tactical glasses. Only groupmembers with suitable helmets can provide liveFeeds.
Installation:
The package contains both an addon-version and a script-version that can be directly included into your mission.
1. Script version
All files needed to use this as a script in your mission can be found in the included example misson. "T-Helmetcam_Test.Stratis"
2. Addon version
To use this, extract the following two folders to your ArmA3 directory:
- @T_Helmetcam
- userconfig
Add this to your ArmA3 shortcut to enable the addon: "-mod=@T_Helmetcam" or append ";@T_Helmetcam" to your existing addon-list.
- @CBA_A3 is required for this Addon!
3. Control
The default-key used by this addon is "*" on your Numpad.
* - Activates camera / switches to next groupmember
Alt+* - Deactivates camera
Shift+* - Toggles size of the display
The key can be changed by entering a different Keycode under "/userconfig/T/HCAM_KEY"
v0.4
- Addon release (CBA required)
- KEY can be defined via userconfig
- Added custom display (can be toggled between two sizes –> Shift+KEY)
- Camera works for vehicles (only driver-view)
- Interference with other PIPtextures fixed
- Code slightly restructured
v0.3
- Multiplayer testing finished
- Fixed proxy objects beeing visible for other players
- Description updated
v0.21
- Removed accidential CBA dependency in example-mission
v0.2
- Initial Release
- Added item-dependency (Tactical glasses are needed to watch a livefeed. Helmets are required to provide livefeeds.)

There are a lot of very capable people on this forum, willing to spend some of their time to help you out. So if you have a problem, it surely isn't too much to ask that you atleast take the time to describe it properly. Thanks.

#Foxhound :
BTW, if you do not mind since this is a script I think it fits better in the scripting forum section, so I move the thread there. :-)
Sure, whatever you prefer. Though I will probably convert it into an addon at some point.

That is what I thought already, but at that time you can choose, start a new thread in the addon section (to seperate your script/addon release) or have this moved/renamed cause you wll only have 1 version (an addon version)
is it possible to super impose something over the PIP? the idea i have is for the f35 helmet helmet hud. have he targeting, flir, buddy view, like the real ones have.

@Jynx
You could probably do that by simply placing dialog elements on top of the pip-display.
PS: Script updated to v0.3 (Bugfix for multiplayer)

It may be a little selfish, but I'd love to see some video now that it's actually attached to the helmet. I'll download and test this out in the mean time.
Used this last night, worked well on SP and MP!! Question, is there any way I can edit the script to make it a little bigger? I'd like for it to be a bit bigger like the GPS display and without the bezel around it. Same location docked on the far right.
Not right now, that would require the creation of a custom dialog for the PIP-display.
I do have something like that planned for a future version though.

Some gameplay feedback i gave "Focht" for his "co_22 Seize ground insurgency style (enemy occupation) 1.6" mission, with your helm cam included:
We have just tried out the helm cam and it is a very funny gadget.
We gathered some feedback about the helm cam, i am not sure, if we should address that to you or the script maker..
-To use helm cams, you need PIP enabled when loading into the mission. Enabling it afterwards doesn't work.
-A multi-level zoom function for the helmcam would be useful (or at least a button for larger/full screen)
-When players are watching our feed, you have red/purple balls bouncing around on your screen (number of balls = numbers of observers). Plus the observed person, got a little red ball in their head, right behind their tactical glasses.
-You can't observer players in vehicles. Camera stays focused on the ground, where the player entered the vehicle.

I'll have to look into that, not sure if I can fix it. I think it should be enough to simply turn the camera off and on. Have you tried that?

I'll consider making the size of the window adjustable, but a zoom function is not normally something those cameras have (as far as I know).

Get the latest version of the script. (was fixed in 0.3)

Yeh I know. I'll see what I can do about that.

Helmet Cam Features:
As you'd expect, helmet cams are not meant to be handled much by the user. After you strap it onto your head, you can't be expected to fiddle with things like a zoom lens or other camcorder settings. So helmet cams have a very bare bones set of controls - usually an on/off switch and a large "record" button which can be pressed down even if you're wearing gloves. That's about it.
On the other hand, there are enough helmet camcorder videos on youtube with high definition resolution,
so a bigger or fullscreen window seems viable (plus the future setting). I have read, some people were
anxious to enable thermal viewing with this cams, maybe that would be a interesting feature for a future
helm cam setup. Watching your own video feed on a fullscreen window with thermal. :D
About vehicles, there seem to be two different bugs.
-If you try to observer players in a vehicle, it only updates the camera position every few seconds.
-If you are in a vehicle yourself, it seems like you can only watch your owns vehicle gunners live feed.
Yesterday we drove on a two hunter patrol and i could only see my gunners 0.50cal barrel on all eight
squadmember channels.
