Before you start the game you need to start aceclippi.exe -> Change manual options -> and disable animated reticles.

I really want to use this mod. However, my CPU is rather slow and PlayWithSix keeps turning ACE on even though I dont want it too. What do I need to delete in the folder or move so i can run this mod ACE free. Also, I apologize for the PM quickdagger.

Hello ej1ej!

You are welcome! And, BTW, thanks for your first post on Armaholic. I hope you enjoy Dagger Scopes as much as I´ve enjoyed making them.

If you want to choose which mods should be launched and you don´t want to use Sixupdater, then you should use Arma Launcher (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8241).

If you launch Dagger Scopes without ACE, then you will be able to only test the scopes made for vanilla BI weapons.

Dagger Scopes bring 59 reticles made for 12 mods. Much more than just the vanillas.

A nice ACE feature I would like to remind you about is the scopes elevation and windage click adjustments. Some weapons from the included mods were configured to make use of this cool ACE feature. So, you might say we´ve barely made those mods´ weapons ACE compatible.

Another interesting point is that the included BDC´s - Bullet Drop Compensators were made to match ACE ballistics. This way your Acogs will be very precise (if you are using the right ammo), no matter if you are using the TA33, TA31 or TA11 MGO.

Hy friends,

Right now I am on a new ballistics project and I was not able to create a precise MS Excel ballistic simulator for Arma 2. And I would like to ask for your help. Sorry if I haven´t posted this on the BI Forums but for the sake of good and simple organization I´ve chosen to put my sniping related projects right and only here.

I have made some interesting discoveries that I want to share with you.

This site (http://resources.bisimulations.com/wiki/Damage_Modeling:_Simulation) brings some formulas...

For example, if you fire a weapon using the following configs...

For the initSpeed of 624 the bullet speeds simulated on the game at different ranges will be:
543m/s @ 250m; 484m/s @ 500m; 424m/s @ 750m and 377m/s @ 1000m.

But, making the math using the formulas:
_acceleration = _velocity*(_speed * _airFriction)
_speed = _speed + _acceleration * _deltaT;

Using ACE and elevating the scope for 16.6 Mils (this is my measured zero for 1000m), the horizontal speed will be:
v * cos (16.6/1,0191082/1000)
the 1,0191082 is the factor to convert NATO Mil´s to trigonometry Mils, which is what MS Excel uses.

Calculating for deltaT = 0.04 and applying the airFriction of -0.00094 your calculations will point a speed of:
490m/s @ 250m; 385m/s @ 500m; 304m/s @ 750m and 240m/s @ 1000m. Wrong values!!!

But, if you make the calculations using BI´s default value of -0.0005 for the airFriction, the simulation will bring:
543m/s @ 250m; 484m/s @ 500m; 424m/s @ 750m and 377m/s @ 1000m. Right values!!!

Conclusion
The game engine is ignoring the airFriction in the configs when calculating the horizontal speeds!!!! =-O

Another problem comes when you try to simulate the y position along the bullets trajectory, which is the bullet drop. BI´s damage modeling simulation tells it considers the ammunition ballistics using the formula:
_acceleration.y = _acceleration.y - _coefGravity * 9.80665;

Doing the calculations, the zero will be around 1100m while in the real simulation it will be at 1000m.

So, I come to the community and ask please for your help on fixing the calculation of bullet drops. Is the formula wrong? Is there a hidden factor? Does BI have a default for drop too?

Any kind of help will be welcome and I thank you in advance! And I promise you will not regret :-)

My pbo requires BulletCore, but I haven´t found the pbo containing it yet.

I know CaWeapons requires BulletCore and on the required addons it includes CAdata, but I have made a search in CAdata and it does not contain the BulletCore.

Added 2 hours 43 minutes later:

:( I removed the mentioned files, also installed the acr weapons for good measure. I no longer get the error when booting. But still get the same error message ...(deleted,caweapons_acr) when trying to revert to a saved game, although all the other error messages have disappeared. As i installed/removed the appropriate weapons packs/corresponding dagger files.

Any clues as to what it might be?

Oh my ... you should delete those files OR install ACR but not both.

Anyway, if you get no error messages you must restart your mission from the beginning because it was saved with the deleted files.

Before you restart, you might try recovering the deleted files since you have installed ACR.

Hi Quickdagger thanks for replying so quickly,

tried both ways the latest way you suggested and the original way you suggested both had the same result.
I also stripped all other installed weapon packs + the corresponding dg files also the ballistics and the weapons pack (including the ACR weapons pack)
(Im under the impression that they are not needed for just the dagger scopes to work) so that only the generic scopes are left. I still recieve the same error. (did this to try and narrow down the problem)

the only mods running are cba and ace, acex and the other ace mods

Also I have been starting a new game each time to test it.
Reinstalled ace and cba to older versions, still no joy.
reinstalled latest version again still no joy.
As the game saves fine as soon as a i turn off the scopes i guess the conflict is in one of these two files

dgr_scopes.pbo
dgr_scopes.pbo.dgr.bisign
(the scopes work fine just wont revert to save game as before)

I included the log (ArmA2OA.RPT) in the message below maybe its of some help to you.

apologies for being a pest, Just i like your scopes they make a huge difference to the game in my opinion :)

Your rpt is ok.

You don´t need to reinstall ACE or aCRE or CBA or whatever, All you need to do is to have the same DGR pbos as the mods you are using.

Here is my starting parameter, hope it can help:

BI has made the game in a way it will never recover you save files if you have added or excluded a mod. Any mod!

So, every time you start the game with a single different pbo (added or deleted) you will not be able to load your saves.
