Hello.

I would like to know how it would be possible to edit the ArmA3 Hud if possible at all, basically because i want to remove player names from the game.

If you open your inventory, the top of it says your name, also if you open the Map, the top right says it aswell - is there any way to disable these?

Saw something similar in that Wasteland test version, and i just can't figure out if there is some kind of setting or this is achieved through dialogs positioned just in front of these elements (what might lag and expose the name sometimes due to some delay of opening)

Anyone able to help me out on this one?

edit: after 8 hours of continued searching, i found out that it indeed is possible to access the arma dialogs and change their values - but, and here is where i am definitely stuck - it seems to bring many problems due to onLoad commands that reset the values etc.

Is it possible to change the contains of variables like $STR_DIARY_PLAYER_NAME in script?

You could use a very ugly method; make the text invisible :D

Try to place the required strings in a box which is placed BEHIND the actual content, or outside the viewport.

Or you could make the text color the same as the background color, so you can't see it.

Hey, thanks for answering.

How would i change the text color? See, these are ArmA3 maingame dialogs, not my own dialogs that i created, that means i just can't access the arma3 files. (i would have to open the .pbo's but that seems not possible?)

And as far as i know i can't really change the attributes of an control item, right?
that means, i can't change the color or opacity of an arma3 maingame dialog item without modding the file directly..

At least as far as i know.

It's possible to override the default GUI, however I have no idea how.

For example in ArmA2; the ACE mod modifies the gear dialog (third weapon, shows weight/size, etc.). And since A3 uses the same dialog system this should still be possible.

You can open the .pbo's from A3 without a problem (try Eliteness) so you can copy the require config files and modify them.
After that, create a mod (or add it to your current project) which overrides the default config and it should work.
