This is the last patch they'll probably do... and will cease support shortly after.

From what I can gather here, you shouldn't jump to any conclusions unless wally has posted it.

However, seriously I hope we will receive at least one more supported patch after 1.11 (whatever number). For a game that has lots of flaws it is still very appealing. As everyone else here, I look forward to seeing what ArmA2 and OFP2 will offer. But until then, I intend to enjoy ArmA to its fullest.

Hi guys,

I've also been away from ArmA for a bit - got frustrated cos performance kinda sucked on my old gfx card. Got a new card now and played a couple of missions to get the graphics levels sorted - MAJOR improvement!

Anyways - are there still servers running the 1.08 patch or are they all on 1.09? Is the 1.09 patch a mod like the 1.07 one?

I'll be patching up to 1.08 tonight and was gonna look for a game of Evo but I might need another download if everyone is running 1.09

Yes, you can use the 1.09 patch like a mod so you can use both.
There are more 1.08 servers than 1.09. However for some addons/missions/modes you need the 1.09.

So like with the 1.07 beta patch its up to you what you want to use ;)

I was more worried about having another big download to do before I could play more than anything else

BIS:
this patch will be released as beta 1.09, once that beta status has progressed successfully it will then be released as final ArmA patch 1.11 or 1.12

Another beta... 25mb... great!

Probably no linux support on the beta - i havent checked but we have waited so long to get all the benefits from 1.09 and we will probably have to wait even longer.

I think they are working on it this time (I think they said they would not with the 1.09 beta).
Why I can hear you ask.......well this is why.

Yep. I knew that, but was a bit let down when it was a beta that they released. 1.09 was a beta and we were so happy about the good stuff in it. But since our server is linux we had to keep playing the 1.08. And because of people with not so good computers didnt want to play 1.08 cause of lag etc it divided the friends up a bit at game nights. So when i saw that 1.11 is done - i thaught it was gonna be realased as a full patch - not a beta again.

That said, funny (or not funny actually) is that people can connect to me when hosting from england, but not from romania. Cant connect to me, and i cant connect to romania on normal hosting. We play all the time on 1.09 without any connection problems.

Just spilled that out to show how much we long for and need a full version. I think i speak for all of us.

Over n' out

It was long time announced that 1.11 will be a public beta too. As for the linux server, that will follow when the remaining issues are solved.

I know that sucks, but BIS, me and a few otheres know very well what happens if a linux server gets released and then issues arise due to a remaining bug. No one at BIS wants to be called as n00b, idiots and what else they were called in the past by certain 'community' members.

BTW: The term 'Over and out' exists only in 3rd class movies. It's either 'over' or 'out', not both. ;)

Gonna get it tonight. Someone already having problems hosting games with 1.11?

Read throu the improvements, and here's some fixes that got my interest (from a player's perspective)

***

new anti-cheat

random motorcycle death

AT4 and RPG07 hit strength and ballistics

mute player button in Players screen

move head while in cargo

fog on DX10

better texture memory management and faster load times

chat msg max 150 characters

Laser Desig bomb drops

wobbling parked airplanes

reduced interior vehicle engine sounds

dead players cannot chat or Voice in Game

Head Bug entering vehicles

spinning abandoned tanks

bigger land mine explosion radius

reduced 2ndry explosion radius

faster turn rate when using AT wpns

climbing ladders

*****

after testing it tonight, I found;

One thing I noticed is that TOW's no longer have lock on. Not sure if this is because of ECS.

AI pilots also react faster to return fire when you're detected.

When you're dead, you go to an unchangeable group channel. nice.

I'd love some actual stats on the new AT wpn numbers. For eg. A BMP2 actually took 2 hits to destroy.

be still my heart if the 7V is half damage now and the 7VR is 600dmg... BIS? Listening to players?

Lots of hearts sent your way if it is...

Thanks wolle for the answer i was looking for.

over & out - yeah i was trying to be a rambo... so,

Out. ;)

PS @monk: bug in bushes? you mean they change shape over distance? this is for saving performance i believe so people can enjoy more view distance (correct me if im wrong). So thats normal.

So funny when I think I first start this thread, and, as I'm the admin of a linux server, I'll be the very last to use this patch :lol
