Hi guys, some of you may know me from the evolution blue/red circuit.

I started since OFP 1.3? days, and after all this time, I came across this unbelievable tidbit.

The SLA/OPFOR RPG-7 launcher in ArmA. You all know it. carried it, traded your LAW for it.

When you equip it, the warhead is obviously a RPG-7V/VL and the ammo defaults to it when you re-arm. It is a HEAT round. The RPG-7VR is a tandem warhead (2 warheads), and is made to penetrate ERA equipped vehicles. The warhead physically looks different (small needle like bulge in the nose, tapers, then the 2nd warhead).

You can see pictures of it here;

When I found the nice vehicle stats page and wpns page here on Armaholic, I was amazed that both warheads do 600 dmg. Is this an intentional slip? An M-136 AT round penetrates about 500mm+ of
armor, while a RPG-7V goes for about 250mm. The RPG-7VR dual warhead sacrifices range (about 1/3 that of the 7V) and penetrates about 600mm armor. Incidentally the M-136AT does 500 dmg in game.

After all this time, I was a bit shocked when I saw the stats on

Any ideas?

*Bump*

Maybe I should post on BIS forums to see if they will fix this? If I were in their shoes I wouldn't want to make the call to implement the change to reflect what's in real life stats.

A. Keep it the way it is.

B. Half the RPG-7V damage, and introduce a new model/icon image for the RPG-7VR,
and triple the range drop of the 7VR warhead to reduce the range to 1/3.

I guess this is all done on purpose. Not only the values you are referring to might be unrealistic but the same goes for a lot of other ordinance and armor as well.
Lots of discussions about this but to keep it simple for myself (I have no technical knowledge of all this) I just say its to keep the game balanced :D

On the balance side, make the M136 a one shot deal like in real life. That might balance out issues between a reloadable weaker RPG-7, and make the 7VR ammo really rare, like 1 in 20, which is about what we see in the middle east. Cost being a key factor to keep availability down.

Do we know that ArmA:2 will have the same weapon characteristics (M136) or ammunition choices (RPG?) as ArmA ?

FFN just released an update where it's a one shot M136 AT. How about this? Make the RPG-7VR a 3 box ammo, and for the RPG-7V half its damage? 7VR is a longer round due to the tandem warhead.

That would balance it out with a minimum of change?

finally got a BIS forum account and posted;

Let's see what BIS has to say...I hope. Even if it's a thank no thank. Just thought the general ArmA community needs to know.

AFAIK vbs2 has all the warhead types... I never noticed much difference ... I made all the warheads as models once... but was too lazy to release it

Dont know if you've noticed but in the latest version of my Xtra Mods package I've introduced some new M136 & RPG-7 warheads (AT4 HP, AT4 LMAW, OG-7V, TBG-7V) as well as corrected the display names of the existing ones (M136 --> AT4 HEAT, PG-7VR --> PG-7VL).

For the net version I plan to refine the 3D model of the TBG rocket (I'm still learning Oxygen but think I'm doing well already), I might as well try my hands at a PG-7VR tandem HEAT rocket.

BTW, if you have accurate info on the penetration values and lethal radius of the various rockets /rounds (especially the TBG-7, OG-7) then please post it here or send me a PM!

I don't know if you read the text on the bottom of that picture but it says "Textures 5% complete" might be a typo and mean 50% but still.
This means it might be fixed in the future.
