RANDOM ARMA 2 CO AND DAYZ FREEZING- NEED HELP!

So, I got arma 2 co and dayz almost a year ago and it ran great, 60 fps on high settings and no problems. Until six weeks ago it began freezing every 5 seconds in the title screen and in game making it unplayable. I've scoured the internet trying to find a solution, I've completely deleted anything arma off my computer and re-downloaded, I've tried setting launch parameters on steam, I've tried launching it in administrator mode, but still no fix and the list goes on. I feel like I've tried everything. If anyone could help me with this problem that would be really appreciated.

P.S. I also had this problem with ARMA 3 but I fixed it by verifying the integrity of the game on steam, I also verified arma 2 co but it did not fix the problem.

What happens if you remove DayZ and run the vanilla game (without any custom content!).
Does this also happen in SP?

What are your specs?

The same thing happens in SP, and vanilla arma freezes too.

My specs are:
Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5500 @ 2.80GHz -Upgrading Soon
Geforce GTX 660 Ti
4 GB RAM
Windows 7 64 bit OS

My computer isn't the top of the line but I could still run arma fine, but now I freeze.

heat is a very common problem for performance of all systems
-clean out computer of all dust incl. videokcard cooler, remove from case if you have too

maybe your HDD is a bit slow:
-defragmentation might help

windows might be slowing things down:
-computer cleanup program (ccleaner) to also fix registry errors

maybe the settings are just too high for your specs (some minor script error can slow games down unseen)
-turn down graphics

unwanted background programs might use to much resources. make sure there is not too much in the background >
-simple turn of SixUpdater while you play or make a shortcut to the desktop to your mod (SU function)

I tried turning graphics down, ran ccleaner, defragged, disc cleaned and got game booster, no improvement. I cleaned out all of the dust from my computer and now its running a bit better, and cooler. I'm planning on buying a water cooler for my hardware, and a new processor. Overall, its freezing every 20 seconds instead of 5. Profit?
