I am completely new to ARMA, (did play play operation flashpoint ;) I am involved in a causal pilots community and I want to put together a ARMA 3 server/ Scenario that will put 7 people against 7 others. 3 AH9's per side and 2 Ghosthawks per side (1 gunner 1 pilot each). I hope to upload this to a gameservers.com ARMA3 server that I have already rented.

My goal is to:

1. figure out the repair rearm and scatter the points throughout the map. Ideally marked with colored smoke that is continual and does not end.
2. Then I need to figure out how to increase the health of the pilots and helios to make them more survivable, (and thus more interesting for A2A chopper battles). I would want to tweak this after doing some testing to find the right ballance.
3. Then how to get the choppers and people to respawn when they die.
4. Then to add some sort of tickets so that one side can "win" after achieving the set number of kills.

I found this and it seems perfect for the rearm repair, http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=19139 but I can't seem to get it to work. I cannot find where to "Copy & Paste the included x_reload.sqf into your mission file." See: http://www.twitch.tv/quorum7/b/486292766 (sorry for the blaring music)

Help? pretty please? I really want to make this mission but lack the scripting/coding expertise, but willing to learn. If anyone could point me in the right direction so I can make this a reality that would be fantastic and I would be in your debt.

Thanks!

For respawning choppers use this script:
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?147890-Simple-Vehicle-Respawn-Script-Arma3&p=2562096&viewfull=1#post2562096

what you will need to do is copy that code into a notepad document, and name the document:
vehicle.sqf
then move that script into your mission folder and the put this code:
veh = [this] execVM "vehicle.sqf"
into the init line of each chopper you want to respawn.

As it says in the script:
Default respawn delay is 30 seconds, to set a custom respawn delay time, put that in the init as well.
Like this:
veh = [this, 15] execVM "vehicle.sqf"

As for players respawning, follow my tutorial:
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?116518-Respawn-for-Editor-Missions-played-in-multiplayer&p=1881921#post1881921
That tutorial is initially written for Arma2CO, but Arma3 uses the same thing it will work.

Any questions let me know. Hope that helps you at least for your two questions.

then move that script into your mission folder

This is similar for what I did for the reload script but I think I might be putting the .sqf file in the wrong spot maybe?

Your mission is currently a pbo.
Your problem is you need to open (extract) the pbo, but from what im seeing is you are exporting your mission as an mpmission before you have all the files in it you require.
So what you need to do is go to the folder for your usermissions and put the scripts in that folder of the mission, it can be found here:

Location of missions seen in the editor
C:\Users\username\Documents\Arma 3\MPMissions
you should find your mission there, it will be a folder the same name as the mission pbo you have.
The usermissions folder for mp will be titled mpmissions
all missions you built and saved while using the mpeditor will show up here.
all missions you saved in the sp editor will be in a folder titled missions.

Exporting missions
When you export a mission, you are finalizing that mission to be played, exporting a mission will take that mission folder you see here C:\Users\username\Documents\Arma 3\Missions or here C:\Users\username\Documents\Arma 3\MPMissions and pbo it it, when a mission folder gets pbo'd, it basically gets zipped, or compressed, and compacted into a format that the game can read, and or uses.

So a tip is, do not export your missions til you have all files you need inside that mission folder.

Naming your missions in the sp/mp editors
Also when you name a mission in the editor and then export it, the name will show up like you have it, so you apparently named your mission Chopper air Domination but when you export it the game will add %20 in the spaces, so right now when you look at your mission folder it will say Chopper%20Air%20Domination, so you cant have spaces, so either put a dash - or a underscore _ in between each word, like this:
Chopper_Air_Domination
you can just rename your mission by hand, no need to go into the editor and change the name, just change the name of the folder to this Chopper_Air_Domination.

Bingo that was my problem. The repair and rearm script is working now I could hug you. Thank you so much for taking the time to clear that up for me. I was banging my head on the table.

I will get to work on the respawn scripts now. You are awesome I could reach through the TCP/IP and hug you.

Thanks again, and feel stop by and check out our guild www.pilotsguild.net a little bit of a roudy bunch but there are some really good guys there (and a few not so good). It started out as a Planetside cross outfit/faction hangout but is changing into a more causal pilots guild of people that enjoy flying in games.

To expand on point #4

I was thinkig about how a game mode would work and was wondering if any or all of the following would be possible and advice on how to implement it.

1. Simple first team to shoot down 20 opponents aircraft wins.

2. Along the same lines the first team to x number of points wins this would add in points for shooting independent vehicles and soldiers but weight the shooting down of enemy aircraft much more heavily.

3. A little more complected but will add in some coordination and teamwork would be to do a capture the flag style the choppers need to land at a set number of points around the map. When they land there the smoke turns from blue to red (or vice versa) and they start to get points for that capture point.

Hey all,
Im getting the same "Script x_reload.sqf not found" message. I tried to create a folder in my missions folder, with the same name as my edited mission, in the location described above and put the .sqf file there, tried putting it into the Missions folder by itself, but I guess I just don't understand where it's supposed to go exactly. I renamed my mission to get rid of the spaces, but that didn't help. Also, it sounds like when you are working on a mission in editor, a folder is created under the missions folder with the corresponding name. If that's the case, that's not happening for me.

Hi Welcome to Armaholic forums!

Dont recreate the folder, just locate your missions folder #1
and then
#2 move the Script x_reload.sqf to that folder.

Where the editor folder is, is here for the sp missions:
C:\Users\your name\Documents\Arma 3\missions
for mp missions where you are editing a mission in the mpeditor (done though hosting)
C:\Users\your name\Documents\Arma 3\mpmissions

Your Welcome Jamac.

Quorum sorry for not replying to you, but all your points are possible through scripting, all i can suggest is look for threads that talk about point systems, and or look at missions that have something similar or a point type system you may be interested in, but it can be done.
