Arma 3 deploying with new and wide variety of single and multiplayer content such as new map editor, over 40 weapons and 20 vehicles. Check below our Arma 3 PC problems, errors and issues related guide.

Must Read…

There are very useful tips to avoid over 90% issues belongs to Arma 3.

1. You must has installed the all redistributable contains _CommonRedist folder, which can be found in game folder.
2. Must have up to date DirectX
3. All hardware drivers especially graphic card drivers must be updated
4. You should have up to date Windows OS and I recommend you to have Windows 7 to play every game fine
5. Must installed software such as NVidia PhysX, .Net Framework 4.0, Visual C++ 2005, 2008 and 2010
6. There can be some improvement in game’s frame rates by disabling the Antivirus and running background applications (check how with the 2 spoilers below).

Arma 3 Low Performance / Low FPS on High End System

Solution 1: Disable V-Sync

Solution 2: Add "-cpuCount=#" parameters to game’s exe file.

Solution 3: Go to My Documents\Arma 3 folder and locate the config file, (cfg), open it into Notepad. Now make some changes to cfg file, set gpu max frames 1000 to 1, cpu max frames 1000 to 1, -maxmem=8192, -maxvram=4042, -cpucount=4, -exthreads=7, -nosplash- for skip intro videos.

Other Tips:

1. Update your graphic card drivers to the latest
2. Turn the Shadows on Standard or High in Graphic Setting Option
3. Turn off Anti-Aliasing and Blur too
4. Join good and low-ping server to reduce lag or Multiplayer issues

Change Arma 3 FOV (Field of View)

1. Open My Documents\Arma 3 or Arma 3 Lite
2. Locate Username.Arma3AlphaProfile or Username.Arma3AlphaLiteProfile file and open it into Notepad
3. Now find the lines fovTop and fovLeft, you can use calculator to the exact FOV values
4. Example (1920x1080 at 90 FOV values will be 1.03:1.83) (1680x1050 at 90 FOV 1.13:1.80) or (2560x1600 at 90 FOV 1.13:1.76)
Save and close.

Arma 3 Launch / Startup Problem, Nothing Happen after Double Click – Fix

It is recommended to install the all redistributable such as DirectX, .Net Framework 4.5, Microsoft Visual C++ 2008, 2010 and 2012. Also try to verify the Steam cache files.

Arma 3 Install Problem – Fix

When you click on the install button, download starts automatically, you should disconnect internet before install the game especially from Disc.

One question would some of these stuff work on the final release? how about the formulas for getting the values like 1. something because i received 65

Added 4 minutes later:

Other i don't have Cpu max frame rates in my CFG nor i have Max memory or max v ram or max threads or cpu count where do i place it?

Added 58 seconds later:

And is to place in the CFG file "1000 to 1" or is to replace 1000 by one?

Edit:
I have in the .cfg= GPU_MaxFrameAhead does that makes any difference? and there is also GPU_DetectedFramesAhead

This stuff was compiled on the release at the time, It should in theory work for all the releases unless
something hardcoded changes much of what ive written above. It could now or in future be made redundant where
hopefully it will be reported within this thread so that changes can be made. Though as far as I know it is
all still working as it was written.

If something is missing within your CGF then your able to add/remove it as you please, just make sure its a
valid reason and that its not needed for your game to run properly.

# Crazydudeg47 : And is to place in the CFG file "1000 to 1" or is to replace 1000 by one?

Change where it says 1000 to the number: 1 that is all :-)

I hope I am not jumping in here prematurely but Ive just started playing the series and Im about halfway through Arma 3. I havent had any problems and now on Breaking Point Arma 3 just stops working, crashes to desktop, and I get the Windows error message to close the program.

Ive checked and done all of the above and I really need to know where else my troubleshooting efforts should be focused on next. I've tried running the exe in compatibility mode for Windows 7 and 8 and it does not work.

On the "Breaking Point" mission, right after I kill the mortar team and am requested back at the outpost in Frini (that we just took over and loaded the supply truck) is where it crashes. About 15 seconds after the screen shows "Task Completed: Fall Back" is when it crashes.

Ive tried turning my graphics down as well. Im also wondering if some of the addons and mods might be screwy. However, I only have a few and they are installed per your instruction in your post on how to properly install mods. (Most were installed via PlaywithSix)

So my specs, as you can see below, should let me run A3 just fine...and it has been running fine. Actually its been running beautifully.

AMD FX 8350
MSI Lightning HD 7950 - OC/Boost Edition
RAM: 16gb
Windows 8.1

PS: Ive noticed that my GPU isnt maxed either when this crash happens. Had it gone up to 100% that wouldve been a huge red flag. But it only goes up to 96% at time of crash.

I just need to know where to look and troubleshoot next. Any help is greatly appreciated.

**Steam verifies the game cache just fine. Sorry, I forgot to add that earlier

If I remove my saved games how can I start at Breaking Point where the crash occurs? Wont it make me start from the beginning of the campaign?

None of the player created scenarios crash and no other part of the campaign causes a crash, just Breaking Point after hunting the mortar and the "Fall Back" order is completed.

Is there way to test it with my saved games profile removed?

Also, if I try to disable the mods or take them away from any Arma 3 related directory (ie "My Documents), then the saved game wont load and says that the mission is dependent on files that have been deleted. Im assuming that since I played the mission with the mods up to that point, that it has saved the mission according to what I had active. Therefore, and I am only guessing, that the game says "wait a minute idiot, there's stuff missing this time that was here last time...stop using the voodoo magic and come back when youre not practicing digital witchcraft."

So if I can test that part out with everything disabled and removed I will definitely do it. I just dont know how to and the ways I tried did not work so far.

Added 19 minutes later:

Just noticed that Windows mustve replaced my .NET Framework 4.5 with "XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0 Refresh". It says it was done/modified on 3/6 but I would think that I shouldve experienced problems sooner since I play this every day. Anyway, should I also install .NET Framework 4.5?

Ive also noticed that my Visual C++ Redist are for 2008, 2010, and 2012 but it seems that I have duplicates of each one. Is that normal?

I also noticed that my cfg file does not have a "cpu max frames" parameter/setting. Should I add it?

please find out how to remove mods prior to starting to troubleshoot vanilla content! the game will add whatever parameters that are required to the config files no need to change anything yourself. I advised removing the save game cause it can be broken or stop working after an update, i never said you have to throw it away completely ;) also if you don’t change anything what is there left to try and if the situation don’t change no need to run a test? What you can also do is remove all profiles and save game at once and reinstall the game and see if it works, cause waiting for weeks won’t solve much.

Removed Save game and all files.

Did complete new re-install.

I've spent the past few days getting back to that point and it still crashes. Except this time I got a crash on "Supply Network".

Oddly enough when I played up to that point (after completing a mission or two) I was able to play Supply Network no problem. It was only when I left the game and tried to come back.

*When i re-installed I re-subscribed to a few workshop missions on Steam (a few I had been subscribed to before and a few were new) But other than those I am running Arma 3 with no mods (not sure if those workshop mission fall into the mod category or act similar to mods in game functionality)

@XTRA - so are you saying that the gpu max frames rendered that is default at 1000 in the cfg is fine? Its not pertinent to my problem as Ive tested it both ways. Is your cfg untouched?

I guess my only choice now is to get rid of the Steam Workshop subscriptions and retest.

:) @CrazyDude..Yeah, I think Workshop was the problem!!

I deleted everything and did a fresh install. But I kept my workshop subscriptions and it still kept crashing. So I got rid of all mods and all of my Steam content and I am happy to report that I can play the campaign and get past that point with no crash.

However, I am playing A3 just as it shipped/no mods. So I may go back in and add the best mods the correct way now!!

I was so happy to make it past that point last night and not have it crash.

However, I did notice that it still had problems reloading the game I was working on when I saved at that point. It would pop up some error and then I would have to start the mission from the beginning and not from my save or the last autosave.

No more Steam Workshop for me!! Even though there are some good missions, there is so much user created content in the arma community that it is not like it will be hard to find new missions to play

Added 2 hours 59 minutes later:

**My only other question regarding this post is about FOV. I see that this post was made when the alpha version was out and I also noticed that my settings in the regular a3 do not match the FOV settings described here for my resolution. Is this something that still has to be (or should be) manually changed?
