Installation
As we always recommend use modfolders to seperate the custom content from the official game content to prevent problems. For different ways to set up your modfolders and use them please visit our FAQ.

When you are using the Steam version you can find a Steam mod installation and activation FAQ here.

1) forget about Six
2) Go to you game folder and create a folder named @Dagger, and create a folder called Addons inside of it. And you should have something like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\@Dagger\Addons
3) Download this: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=19844, extract all pbo´s and bisign´s and place them inside the Addons folder described in step 2.
4) Download this: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=24600, extract all pbo´s and bisign´s and place them inside the Addons folder described in step 2.
5) Download this: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=25486, extract all pbo´s and bisign´s and place them inside the Addons folder described in step 2.
6) Install LEA (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=15766) and learn how to use it.
7) Open LEA -> Help -> Install new addons -> Import -> browse to your @Dagger folder and select the file dgr-ballistics_1_14.lea.addon -> Open ->OK
8) Then go to Help -> Manage addons -> Check DGR Ballistics -> Close
9) Then go to Profiles -> Edit -> New -> Give it a name -> Then select it -> Faction filter and select DGR Ballistics -> Then choose you desired soldier layout and click Apply to @LEA -> Check if userconfig path is right. It might be something like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\userconfig
If you don´t have a folder called userconfig there, then create it manually -> Apply -> OK -> Save to disk.
10) Install Arma Launcher (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8241) and learn how to use it. Add the @Dagger folder from step 2 and your ACE folders to it (and any other mod folder you want, no matter if they were downloaded by Six or not) and start the game -> enter any mission -> scroll your mouse wheel and you will see a red text called "apply layout" or something like that -> click and you will be instantly equipped with all your gear set in LEA, including my rifles if you have chosen them in LEA.

If you want more detailed info on how to use LEA read your Dagger Ballistics manual, that comes with the download.

Dagger Ballistics is the "mod of a mod". Besides it works with default BI´s weapons it brings a lot of other magazines and ammo types made specially for all the mods listed below. So give them a try because they were considered worth to receive the goodies brought by this mod.
You don´t need to have all the mods that are compatible with my mod. So don´t get yourself bored by those “Addon X requires addon Y” messages on game start. If you don´t like those messages then delete the Dagger pbo´s made for the mods you are not using.

Could you also add the Kryptek "Highlander" camo in another update? That camo is a cross between the desert one and woodland one.

Again thanks,

Well ... to be more precise ... the version used is, in fact, the "Highlander" one.

I´ve tried the Kryptek "Nomad", which should be the all desert pattern but it look too reddish on the game. Then, when I have decreased the red on the texture it became pretty much like the "Highlander", so I decided to use the latest.

So, there is a problem when choosing the right textures, for not always they will look good in game.

Another example is the sponge painted M24A2, The initial idea was to use one of the available digital patterns but when the texture was applied to the model it got distorted in some parts and the final result was not good enough to me.

But, the key is to keep looking for good texture options and I would love to hear more suggestions from you.

I´ve looked for another good desert camo and came up with the desert A-Tacs, it went just fine on the models.

What do you say?

Ah, ok. Strange that the "Nomad" camo didn't work. If you haven't checked Kryptek's site out lately, they've got some new camos. Kryptek patterns The new "Banshee" might work, instead of the "Nomad" and the new "Altitude" is interesting. Maybe use the "Neptune" for the Mk13 Mod5 to thank the Navy SEALS and Crane for developing that rifle. :-) The desert A-Tacs look great too. Having different camos for the same rifle is always nice and adds variety.

On the M40A5, could you model the Surefire muzzlebrake and Schmidt&Bender scopes? Checkout the pics here for good references. GA Precision M40A5 It's what the USMC currently have on those rifles. Here's Schmidt&Bender site. Schmidt&Bender 3-12x50 Schmidt&Bender 5-25x56 For the Mk13 Mod5, looks like they're using Nightforce scopes. Hope that helps.

Hey Mast,

Thank´s for the ideas.

To do the rifles I use other rifles parts, just like lego. Thank´s to Bohemia Sample models (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=23736). I don´t know how to 3D model from scratch, so I´m not able to do the right muzzle breaks and scopes, even the right rails if you will *SORRY*

Thank´s to my friend WinteR5 the rifles use his high poly Leupold scope, and his high definition textures modified by my camo patterns. I could use BI models (which are: S&B 3-12x, Leupold 10x, Leupold MRT and Zess 4x) but they are rather out of scale or low definition on the the scopes scale markings (I like to see the scopes numbers in HD on gameplay).

WinteR5 told me he is working on a S&B so, let´s wait for his work ... and his permission :-) ... and I would love to see a Nightforce made by his hands too.

Right now, as you can see, there is a NF reticle on the Mk13, an H59 reticle on the Leupy LRT and so on...

About the textures, we already have 6 models of each, times 4 rifles = 24 models. Times some camo varieties equals too much work. That´s why I´ve chosen to make each rifle with a different texture. Even though, to show you I wish to interact, we might start a pool asking which camo pattern each rifle should use.

There are some new ideas coming from the 4 finalists of a camo contest:
http://soldiersystems.net/2013/06/10/army-camouflage-improvement-selection-contest/

So, among the current camos and the 4 new options, if I am about to re-camo the rifles, what camo should the M24 be? The same for the M24A2, Mk13 and the M40.

And, what new rifle should I include, a 6.5 ACR, a .300 MSR, a .50 DSR50, a .406 M200 or a .308 AW? And in what camo?

Hi Dagger,

Hopefully I didn't scare you away. :-) I found some pictures of the Mk13 Mod5 without the suppressor and the barrel is tapered to accept the KAC suppressor. It looks strange, here are the pics.
Mk13 Mod5 1
Mk13 Mod5 2
Mk13 Mod5 3
Mk13 Mod5 4

If I find better pics, I'll post them.

Added 4 minutes later:

lol... you beat me with my last post. I found an awesome pic, it maybe my new desktop. :-D
Mk13 Mod5

Thanks for the heads-up and replies.

Added 14 minutes later:

Ok,

For the Army's M24's, I would go with the 1 color for each environment (desert, forest, urban, winter). As for which colors, that's a hard one. There's a bunch of camos... Multicam, A-TACS, Kryptek, etc. Kryptek gets my vote!

As for the new sniper rifle... DSR is my choice because it's not in the game (as far as I know).

Added 4 hours 23 minutes later:

Another sniper rifle that I would like to see is the FN Ballista, 3 calibers: .338 Lapua mag, .300 Win mag and 7.62 NATO. Looking forward to WinteR5's Schmidt&Bender scopes. :-)

Oh, WinteR5 does not offer his scope on the net.

He has only given it to me because I´ve asked him for his unbinarized model. He took it from his wonderful M14 pack:
http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=17980

Since I don´t know how to create 3D models I can only copy them from open sources and "try" to port them to the Arma format.

Right now I´ve found these ones:
http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/acw-r-83842.html
http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/m98b-61055.html
http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/dsr50-4524.html
http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/msr-64420.html

But at least I know how to change their textures :-D

Added 1 hour 8 minutes later:

OK!

I´ve found a Schmidt & Bender and a Nightforce ... but they cost money :(
http://www.all-3dmodels.com/1392824426819_Scope-optical-sight.html
http://www.all-3dmodels.com/1393424411191_Schmidt-Fender-PM-II-3-12....html

For the price they have no downloads since 2010!!!

What I meant was when WinteR5 give you permission to use his scope when it's ready.

Sweet, the MSR is modeled already but variety is good. FHQ Remington Weapons pack The M98 Bravo would be sweet too.

For those 3D models, you have to be careful. Sometimes those groups steal somebody else models and try to sell them as their own.

I prefer few models with high quality textures.

Has anyone tried these models, or could they be added to this mod?

That model of the Schmidt & Bender is their new top dog. It's awesome and the price is steep. On the Artic Warfare magnum model, the bolt handle seems off, like its too small. Something is off on that AWM. The others look pretty good.

Quick question, are your rifles in a crate or something because I couldn't find them in the editor.
Thanks

All right,

New muzzle brake, thanks to Multplaneta and a more realistic clip-on night sight, enter the AN/PVS-29:

Oh, there are not weapon/ammo boxes because you can load them from LEA.

Man, I don´t have much time to play, so I believe it is a complete waste of time to spend half your game session time scavenging on weapon boxes. I constantly see players wasting more time on base than on mission sites =-O

Added 4 minutes later:

Oh, and one more thing, the M24 retextured with one of the new Army camo finalists:

I still save the A-Tacs for future use.
