Well, since i'm more of a parachuting person i never really use stealth much since i'm dropping straight into the action.
But there are the drops where you need to be stealthy...
So how exactly do i be stealthy in this game?

-put AI & team on stealth mode
-pre-make a plan of attack and find save spots to hide and engage the enemy from
-Always avoid a direct line of sight with the enemy
-once one is spotted protect him at all cost (unless outsider that don't listen at all)
-Always stay low / behind a tree and move tactically (when enemy is facing away etc.)
-in urban areas you can have the luck you can sneak around your enemy and with silences stay unnoticed till halve the enemies are dead
-in open areas ask yourself how close do i need to be (let the bullets do the traveling), and do i have any form of heavy metal support
-always wait for your teammates to take aim or be out of sight of the enemy before opening fire

& rember if the enemy is in sight ....so are you!

-Avoid sky-lining yourself.( Makes you very easy to spot. )
-In close quarter battle and urban areas try to keep moving. ( To avoid getting flanked. )
-If you enter a building make sure you have more than one entrance / exit. ( In case an enemy also enters the building. )
-Avoid giving orders over radio. ( could give away your position. )
-If a unit in your group is about to open fire, ready the rest of your group to open fire aswell. ( in case of a retaliatory return fire. )
-Always try to implement flanking into the operation. ( Very effective tactic. )
-Constantly check the map to stay up to date with enemy / friendly positions. ( Do this only when you know the enemy cant eliminate you. )
-Aswell as having a Primary-Plan always have a Secondary-Plan. ( In case SHTF. )
-Know your enemy. ( Like "Do they have NVG's, Silenced weapons, AT/AA, etc. )
-Always expect the unexpected...

Time spent on reconnaissance is seldom wasted. Go to a vantage point at a considerable distance of the area of interest and spend some time determining strength, dispositions and patrol routes of enemy forces, displacing as necessary to ensure a view from different angles. Proceed to move through the terrain as water would flow, thereby making sure one is shielded from observation and its boon companion incoming fire. Fast movement attracts more attention so do not make haste unless there is a very pressing need to cover ground quickly. Slow walk is prefereable at all times. Adjust your stance to minimise detection, crouching or going prone depending on the distance to enemy observers. If necessary employ smoke offensively to screen movement towards the objective. Use suppressed weaponry at appropriate ranges, taking care to aim at the head rather than the main body to make sure the target is killed and cannot alert nearby colleagues. If one is not sure about the ability to score a hit at a certain distance, move in closer to increase the chance of taking down the target. Try to take out enemies that are not in close proximity of others rather than taking on a group in close formation, as the enemy does start to take an interest once one of them is dropping to the floor of unnatural causes.

Regards,

Sander

Thanks for all the replies, I'm going to be creating a new mission where my squad drops in from high altitude at a high hill point, To avoid any complications with missing our landing target the point we'll land on will be a few klicks away from our vantage point, Then walk twords the vantage point and check out the enemy forces and patrol routes. I'll be having a recon squad member spying patrol routes and enemy stength and fast fallback positions if our guys are dropping way to fast. So yeah a ton of tactical work will be needed. So thanks :D

Take caution when approaching AI, AI mostly hears you from 20 meters. They even see you (sometimes) when walking behind walls or cover.

If it's day, it'll be hard to avoid being detected, but if night, you can always just lay on the ground and be patient moving without standing up, also if you are a team leader, better tell your guys to change combat mode to "Stealth" and fire mode to "Hold Fire". It works for me almost everytime, except for when one of my guys shoots before I am able to tell them hold fire.

As far s AI are concerned, don't forget Arma is a game with some weird behavior like AI able to see you through vegetation or even through house's corners! For a scenario, set their skill and their behavior for each phase of your action.
