Civilian UAV/UGV

by
Sabre[Dust]

Description:
Spin off of my civilian units addon. Since some people requested it I put it up as standalone addon.
Adds civilian UAV/ UGV and a terminal to go with it

Features:
Civilian Terminal, unarmed ground vehicle and unarmed aerial darter drone

Installation:
Extract into the ArmA 3 Directory, by default this is located in:
32-Bit - C:\Program Files\Steam/Steamapps\Common\ArmA 3\
64-Bit - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam/Steamapps\Common\ArmA 3\
After extraction it should look like this:
Steam\Steamapps\Common\ArmA 3\@your_mod_folder_name\addons\

You can also use the "Arma 3 Alpha" folder in your "My Documents" folder. Your folder setup could than look like for example this:
mydocuments\Arma3 Alpha\@your_mod_folder_name1\addons\
mydocuments\Arma3 Alpha\@your_mod_folder_name2\addons\
mydocuments\Arma3 Alpha\@your_mod_folder_name2\addons\

When present place the "userconfig" folder into your game install folder, usually:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3".
You may already have "userconfig" folder from other addons and/or mods in which case it is safe to merge the contents from this archive.

You'll also need to add a Launch Parameter to Steam, in order to do so right-click on ArmA 3 Alpha and click Properties and then Set Launch Options. In the window that opens enter in -mod=@your_mod_folder_name
For using multiple mods you would then do so like this:
-mod=@mod_name;@mod_name2;@mod_name3;@mod_name4;@mod_name5

Note:
You can also use -nosplash to get rid of the splash art and intro videos.

And of course you can also enable and disable community made addons and mods through the in-game Options Expansions menu if you do not want to mess with startup parameters!

When the above information still does not provide you with enough to learn how to install custom addons and mods you can always ask in our Guide On Installing Mods.

Included files:
sab_cuav.pbo

Usage:
Add a civilian terminal to any civilian unit you want to use it with and put this in the init:
this additem "sab_CUAV_Terminal";
Place a few manned civilian drones around it (Faction Civilian RC)

Backpack usage:
To use either add to a box/vehicle in editor using:
this addBackpackCargo ["sab_CUAV_BP",3];

or add to a player directly using
this addbackpack "sab_CUAV_BP";

Credits & Thanks:
Actually Das Attorney did most of the work, thank you so much!

Change log:
v0.3 Beta
- Now includes a Backpack which will spawn a civilian quadcopter version

v0.2
- Fixed an error in it which required some other mod from me to work properly
- I added a box with 5 UAV Terminals while I was at it

v0.1
- first release

Small update Version 0.3 :

Now includes a Backpack which will spawn a civilian quadcopter version

I didn't manage to add the Backpack to the Box via config.cpp.
To use either add to a box/vehicle in editor using:
this addBackpackCargo ["sab_CUAV_BP",3];

or add to a player directly using
this addbackpack "sab_CUAV_BP";

Have fun!

It shows up in the editor with all the other bags. Guess it should show up in VAS. The bag is called Civilian UAV Bag or something like that.

Thankies, just feeling bad that I double the workload instead of waiting a day more and releasing a more finished addon.
But then I didn't even know I would have a reason for a new version the day before :D

a few more pics to illustrate some of the features:

This is the changed 3rd person view. I like it a lot more than the old far away and wildly off center one.

all units included in the addon. The textures are downsized and crude to save work and space. I don't notice it. If someone thinks the textures need an update please post here. I might consider if enough people speak up :)

quick question. i'm trying to add these to a server(hope it is okay, if not then please contact me ASAP, server is still in the testing phase) and it keeps giving me null objects if i add the "sab_CUAV_BP" and "sab_CUAV_Terminal" to a store(altis life server, now with uav's and ugv's)

any ideas?

the log file says nothing, other than errors from earlier experiments(trying to add a new type of object, with no luck)
