NEWS:

Hello everyone,
this is the topic for my Fortification addon.
Interesting news, new changlogs will be posted here. You could also request new features, discouse ideas, report bugs and of course post pictures of you have done with this addon. The mod itself can be found here.

Usage:

Fortification menu:
When opening the fortifcation menu by perssing ctrl+b (by default) you will be able to choose one of the following options:
1. Open the construction menu and use all the ressources from your own inventory.
2. Open the construction menu and use all the ressources from the crate/vehicle you are looking at.
3. Take the you are looking at object and move it around. (only possible for objects with blueprint)
4. Remove the object you are currently looking at and place all ressources on the ground. (Be carefull: When you have multiple blueprints for one object the materials from the first one will be used)
5. Align the Object you are carring to the horizon/ground.
6. Exit the fortification menu.

Construction menu:
Here you are able to choose the blueprint you want to build from.
At the left side you will find the list of all categories and all blueprints. When choosing any blueprint you can see the preview in the middle of the screen. Also you can find the needed ressources in the bottom right corner.

carring an object:
You can use the keys I and K to move the object towards and away from you.
You can also use J and L to turn the object.
The high will be controlled by looking up and down.
Use the align option from the Fortification menu to align the object to the ground or horizon.

For missionmakers/modders:
Some interesting variables are:
edn_fortification_array - holds all blueprints (client side, can be different for each client)
edn_fortification_zeus_array - holds all game master objects (server side)

Planned features:
- advanced construction menu
- save constructed objects to .sqf or an database using Arma2NET.

Classnames form the materials:
edn_Woodplank
edn_Cinderblock
edn_Steelplate
edn_Metalpipe
edn_Sandbag
edn_Wirecoil
edn_camonet

I was just sent a link by a friend showcasing a new game 1st person mil-sim by the name of 'Squad' and one of it's largest selling points is that soldiers can build fortifications to entrench and further establish their position/presence. Every other aspect of that game has already been mastered by arma. I think this mod has the full potential to now fill that feature. Is there an object list for the objects/structures that you have included here so far?

Thanks for that, good to hear that this mod seems to be useful. :-)
So there is an list of objects which will be in the Construction menu by default:

Categorie: Walls
    - Bagfence Long
    - Bagfence Short
    - Bagfence end
    - Bagfence Round
    - Bagfence Corner

Categorie: Camping
    - Campfire
    - Camping Chair
    - Camping Table
    - Camping Table small

But you can also edit this list and add every Object/vehicle you want to build.
You can do this by using the "add Blueprint" module in the editor or by manualy override the variable "edn_fortification_array". The default format of the array looks like that:

edn_fortification_array = [
["Walls",
["Land_BagFence_Long_F",[["edn_sandbag",3]]],
["Land_BagFence_Short_F",[["edn_sandbag",2]]],
["Land_BagFence_End_F",[["edn_sandbag",1]]],
["Land_BagFence_Round_F",[["edn_sandbag",3]]],
["Land_BagFence_Corner_F",[["edn_sandbag",2]]]
],
["Camping",
["Land_Campfire_F",[["edn_Woodplank",2]]],
["Land_CampingChair_V2_F",[["edn_Metalpipe",2]]],
["Land_CampingTable_F",[["edn_Metalpipe",4],["edn_Steelplate",2]]],
["Land_CampingTable_small_F",[["edn_Metalpipe",4],["edn_Steelplate",1]]]
]
];

Added 3 minutes later:

Here is an little example of the blueprint array witch I often use:
edn_fortification_array = [
["Walls",
["Land_BagFence_Long_F",[["edn_sandbag",3]]],
["Land_BagFence_Short_F",[["edn_sandbag",2]]],
["Land_BagFence_End_F",[["edn_sandbag",1]]],
["Land_BagFence_Round_F",[["edn_sandbag",3]]],
["Land_BagFence_Corner_F",[["edn_sandbag",2]]],
["Land_Razorwire_F",[["edn_Wirecoil",5]]]
],
["Large Walls",
["Land_HBarrier_1_F",[["edn_sandbag",3],["edn_Wirecoil",4]]],
["Land_HBarrier_3_F",[["edn_sandbag",9],["edn_Wirecoil",8]]],
["Land_HBarrier_5_F",[["edn_sandbag",15],["edn_Wirecoil",12]]],
["Land_HBarrierBig_F",[["edn_sandbag",20],["edn_Wirecoil",15]]]
],
["Bunker",
["Land_BagBunker_Large_F",[["edn_sandbag",40],["edn_Woodplank",20]]],
["Land_BagBunker_Small_F",[["edn_sandbag",10],["edn_Woodplank",5]]],
["Land_BagBunker_Tower_F",[["edn_sandbag",20],["edn_Woodplank",10],["edn_camonet",5]]],
["Land_Cargo_House_V3_F",[["edn_Steelplate",25],["edn_Metalpipe",8]]],
["Land_Medevac_house_V1_F",[["edn_Steelplate",25],["edn_Metalpipe",8]]],
["Land_Cargo_HQ_V3_F",[["edn_Steelplate",40],["edn_Metalpipe",20]]]
],
["Camping",
["Land_Campfire_F",[["edn_Woodplank",2]]],
["Land_CampingChair_V2_F",[["edn_Metalpipe",2]]],
["Land_CampingTable_F",[["edn_Metalpipe",4],["edn_Steelplate",2]]],
["Land_CampingTable_small_F",[["edn_Metalpipe",4],["edn_Steelplate",1]]],
["Land_Sleeping_bag_blue_F",[]],
["Land_Ground_sheet_blue_F",[]],
["Land_ToiletBox_F",[]]
],

Is there a way to add static guns to the list like a MG or mortar?

Yes just use the classname. Which is "B_Mortar_01_F" in the case of the mortar. Add it like the other blueprints to the Array or use the "add blueprint" module in the editor.

You can find the most classnames of vanilla arma here: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_CfgPatches_CfgVehicles
or when placing the object in Editor it will Show the classname on the top right corner of the edit window.

I cannot get this mod to work. When I first tried and I had ~70 mods loaded. But I tried once more, this time with only CBA and this mod loaded and still, nothing happened when I pressed crtl+b. If anyone could help me, that'd be wonderful.
EDIT - I found the problem was with the userconfig file. I use the Arma 3 launcher, and for some reason the userconfig never made it into my arma3/userconfig directory so I had to manually place it there.

Hi, I am trying to use this mod in the editor and upon loading the single player editor and I get this error.

[]: 'bin\config.bin/cfgpatches/edn_fortifications/' not an array

Also want to ask in regards to this, can you please elaborate more for a noob to do some editing.

For missionmakers/modders:
Some interesting variables are:
edn_fortification_array - holds all blueprints (client side, can be different for each client)
edn_fortification_zeus_array - holds all game master objects (server side)

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Thanks for all the informations and bug reports I recieved in the last months. I Will have a look on them.
But there where also a lot of ArmA Updates since I released this Verison of the Mod and it is very likely to not work perfect anymore. I'm going to create a new and better Version of this mod and also fix some bugs in the next months.
@Apocalypsis77: Currently I don't realy know where your Problem came from, but I will try to find out.
