# Foxhound : Did you refresh?

Is it like YouTube where different regions get the new site in different times?

Will we also need a Modsaholic+ to post?

Sometimes I like to think as I started the whole "earplugs" thing.

# glennog : How has RSS had its day? There are many people (myself included, as well as the OP) who still use it. On Armaholic it's really useful to check through the site's updated downloads without having to trawl through dozens of pages individually. Come on guys, RSS is alive and well, bring it back please.

agreed... RSS is very useful given the amount of releases that come out daily on Armaholics. I don't use the basic RSS anymore, I use Bamboo Feed Reader for Firefox... which is the new way to read your feeds & much more customizable over the old basic feed.

To say that RSS had it's day is incorrect, it's alive and well. Now perhaps Armaholics has had it's day with RSS feeds upkeep, which seems to be the case & it's your website guys, you can certainly do what ever you want with it, but I for one rely heavily on the RSS feeds to keep up with releases for my community & I would hate to have to scroll through dozens of pages looking for content that might be useful. I hope the RSS is upgraded & continued on the new site for those of us who are using it for the purpose it was designed for.

Thanks to Foxhound & all the devs here for keeping this site maintained & working for the community.

Sad to see RSS removed.

I wont go into what I think the reason being, but I will say that because the RSS feed was removed I now visit armaholic less than before. Often times when reading the great rss feed I clicked interesting news items to visit the site to see the actual news page, but now that is over.

Now I usually once a week check armaholic if I have some private messages (as the email notification doesn't work(?)) and wont even bother to start browsing the news not to mention forum.

Removing RSS feed is lose-lose situation; lose for me and lose for armaholic.

I agree with snake man.. not that it matters all that much now, but I too have not visited the site sense I made the post above his (was subscribe to the thread it appears)... the RSS feed was my connection to the site.

Well it's been a couple of months now since my post and I am still without both a new website and the old RSS feeds. I have to say I am quite disappointed. Since the RSS feeds stopped I rarely visit Armaholic any more, which is a great shame considering the effort that has clearly gone into it and the absolute mountain of resources it holds.

Can a site admin please let us know when the new site will be released and whether you will consider bringing the RSS feeds back?

agreed..... my subscription to this thread is my only contact anymore to the site sense the RSS feed went down. Again, I think the odds of them bring back the RSS feed are very slim, they usually don't change their minds on things they deem minor or tedious to us who actually use them, but will keep posting with that slim hope..

Sad... Very sad. I agree, the chances of RSS being reinstated now are slim at best. This itself is a sad indictment of the focus of the site devs - either the site is for the benefit of its user community or it's for the benefit of the admins, a sort of "look at us and what we have created". At first I thought it was the former; given the sheer volume of content and the rather nice structure it seems to be designed around the user. However with the statements received so far, which frankly sounded like "we know better than everybody, RSS is dead because we say it is" and the complete lack of the promised replacement I'm starting to think that the latter is closer to the truth.

Arrogance, gentlemen, is the precursor to failure. I am now using suffering with Play With Six. Not because it's better, it's actually a lot worse (I have never before used a piece of software that crashes so often - and I used Windows 3.0!) but because it does what I need it to do. Now, site admins, what does that tell you? What does it say to you when people are prepared to use probably the single most buggy piece of software on the planet in preference to your site? It should tell you you've got something wrong, it should tell you that you've misjudged your audience's needs... Does it tell you any of these things? The answer I'm hearing so far is "No". So either you're not listening, or you don't care.

This site used to be useful, now I'm afraid it's just another limp repository useful only when somebody posts a link to it.

Your wrong there mate, the site is actually useful for the true armaholic who appreciates our service instead of someone like you with 13 posts and who barely takes part in the community but just to complain. You know where the door is, of course you wont be missed!

Com'on Dark, everyone is free to have an opinion about our site and wether its usefull or not. If someone does not think its usefull I am sure he will find other means to get his info....possibilities are endless.
Lets respect eachother for the choice we make and opinion we have.

But now that we are talking.....how about a paid RSS guys? Would you like that? possibilities are endless
Have fun with using the other resource you choose to use now, I am sure at some point you will learn to love it and its free....a bit.

# Foxhound :how about a paid RSS guys?

I'm with the main consensus that RSS feeds are *extremely handy* and I'm sure someone in the community with too much time on their hands would be thrilled to help an admin update all the new and existing releases into the feed.

Our clan has some essential mods that we try to keep up to date as often as possible. An RSS feed of any kind would be awesome. So how does somebody adapt a paid RSS feed to the Armaholic site?
