EDIT2: that was in careless mode when i took the pic, wanted them to walk and not move faster, and they didnt see me. But your right, when they patrol - they do notice you. Never thaught about it as we usually charge the enemy at that short distance. It would ofcourse be nice to just sit there and let them pass and then go on to a better location etc. So, yeah your right. This should be fixed. Post in BIS forum about it as thats the offical forum for these things. The devs read it there for sure.

i would say something needs to be done about that.

and how the AI (tanks mainly) can see and shoot you down at 3000m+ before you can see them. no less target them and shoot.

lets not for get how all the AI shots are 1st 3 shots thay take are hitting you. i can see that in when the enemy levels are turn up but not at the default level.

I'm having a similar problem right now in the sniper mission of beaten dog. I'm using the realistic range mod and the mk12 has the stopping power of a grape-launcher.

Using the vegetation mod I can hide effectively but once I pull the trigger the enemy hears me and decides to check out the water tower where I am hiding underneath. Is there some kind of timelimit between shots I can use to wait out the AI? You know... fire 2 shots... stay still and have the AI stop panicking and looking for me?

I can't see an effective way to beat this mission using the the cool ballistic range mod. I need some tactics help here.

I am not familair very much with SP missions but is that the default SP mission from the BIS campaign?
I guess you must do it from that location than right? Have you tried moving up the watertower?

TRACY: Are you playing 1.12b patched ArmA? A lot of the AI precision went away with the latest patches. 1.08 is horrible compared - an AI 500 meters away with a scopeless AK could snipe you like it was nothing. I dont experience what you say so much anymore. Maybe because i played it so much and got used to move - hide - move - hide. Lots of taking cover is essential. More like real war i guess. Soldiers basically dig down when something goes down isntead of keep moving. I do understand what you mean and the frustration about it, just that after so long time playing this i dont feel that pain anymore. Especially with the latest patches as well. And a tank shooting you at long distance might be because they got more powerful scopes. I never been shot by a tanks MG from 3km though lol and i take it you were sarkastic. Just a general tip mate - never ever stand in the clear of a tank! Its not healthy. ;)

There is a AI supress addon around. You fire at their general direction and they dive down trying to hide - thus stop shooting at you, and you can move away from the heat. Use the search function here at Armaholic for that. Also test VFAI addon, makes enemies move more instead of just dropping down shooting at you. They will do that too ofcourse but theres more movement and battles last longer - 100% guaranteed.

we are all on the 1.14 patch, 1.12 is old news, get with the times ;)
