Sup everyone just wanted to post this video as a reference tool to anyone who wants to make a sound mod. I think the echoes should sound like this whenever you shoot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4_Wyo6pC0A

Good idea, when I have some free time I'm going to write up a small guide on getting custom content working correctly in Armed Assault.

If someone could provide a link to a tutorial that covers getting custom vehicles/aircraft in to Armed Assault, that would be great.

I'm sorry guys but this is a seriously noob question: Can original OPF mods be made compatible with Arma with relative ease? Some of the old mods are exactly what I want for Arma. I'm sure I am not the first to drool over the possibilty of this, and I've seen alot of content from OPF ie, Vilas vehicles, units. Again I apologise for the blatant noobilty of this question. I feel terrible for taking addons and not giving much back to the community exept praise, but hey I'm learning. And really the only thing I can give is advice based on my experience as a forward observer. I can tell you just about anything about fire support, because thats all I know.

I'm not tooting my own horn, but I was very good at my job. You guys know mods. If anyone has a fire support (mod) related question, please don't hesitate to ask.

A quick search found these:

Flashpoint Aircraft in Arma
How do I get opf addons to work in arma?
Can flashpint wapons work in ArmA?
From OFP to ArmA

Addons from flashpoint can be imported into ArmA but most require a reconfig, etc. Importing models is no problem, you will have to learn the new stuff in ArmA to get them fully compatible in game. But I don't see why the majority of OFP addons quality qise would be wanted in ArmA anyway.

Be sure to search next time before posting a question aske many times before and to post in the correct section. :thumb

You got it, thank you.

[add on]
I see your point about the quality. Really it is the vast amount of vehicles available in OPF like the Combat desert series that is atractive. I used to play OPF religiously, and could build batalion sized elements that were believeable ie, variety, bumper numbers. Arma has grown by leaps and bounds however and I know we'll get there. Keep it up. Airborne.

learning even just the basics of c++ will be of great help to you when your makeing your configs and models.cfgs
http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/

If your going to be doing alot of work with addons you might want to get a program with c++ highlighting- I just tried this out yesterday and all I can say is I don't know how I lived without it

If you plan on doing work with configs then I suggest downloading other peoples mods and inspecting them very carfully and compareing them to others, and read up on Biki.(It may be a mess but it has lots of valueble information to be learned from it)

Hope this helps:D

Hmm, don't think this will help but can't hurt to add my limited exp so far :)

For modeling (if that was something you wanted to do?)
Ohh and take alook at this before you start ;)
Gameplay vs graphics

For learning how to model in O2 (OFP's editor)
http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Oxygen_Light
try here for learning it
Note: you can't use the viewer without OFP installed.

If you want a more complicated program which has extra features like extrude try this program called blender
Program
Learning it

Or another good one
http://www.anim8or.com/

And for baking high poly models onto low (normal maps) grab this amazing program.
http://www.xnormal.net/
http://www.xnormal.net/Tutorials.aspx

Or for making normals in photoshop try here
by Linker Split

For configs, here is the best one (imo) by Vilas

For texturing, well i'm just slowly working through it myself trying to figure out :)...however if you are just after simple reskins, try
http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?s=4c08369d407935b559e7d527b786463e;act=ST;f=80;t=65479

Will be able to help out more once I get my first few models working :)
Good luck.

Could some one link me to some good reskin tutorials etc. and then tell me how a config works. ive worked all day with a few poorly written ones I found via google like...OLD OLD stuff. I cant do any of it without something going differentely then they say in the tutorial. so...something recent ? I got the bi soldier DONE. he has his files etc. and hes ready to be made into a pbo..
but..I need to know what to do now...the tutorial said nothing. so....help?
