I was wondering: is possible to change the point of aim of fixed vehicle weapons through a script in a mission?

I find it very annoying that almost all the gun and rocket pods of fixed wing aircraft are aimed down relative to he aircraft's flight vector. I've downloaded some addons where this is not the case, and I find it much better to have the guns/rockets properly aligned with the aircraft flight vector.

Is there anyway to do this in the map editor, or does this require modding the .pbo files for the weapon or vehicle?

No chance to "mod" something in Editor.
You can check a turret limit with diag_recordTurretLimits (arma 3 only), but no command or function for enabling these limits (arma2 or 3). You need to mod a child object, I think this works for Arma2.
Is this working in description.ext, instead of an addon (config.cpp)? Some chance. To be tested.

You'd probably have to change the vehicle's config Kerik, maybe even the model. Don't know much about turrets.

Sometimes I like to think as I started the whole "earplugs" thing.

Ok, so I found what I need to change:

https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/CfgVehicles_Config_Reference#gunAimDown

gunAimDown
Float
Description: Aircraft only. How far a hardpoint-mounted gun "aims down"; high values allow for strafing runs without the need to nose-dive down too much, but also shift the targeting reticle in the aircraft's HUD; if too high, targeting reticle is only visible in 3rd Person (if available).

Now I just need someone to help me understand how to edit a vehicle config file... I'd love to change all the fixed wing aircraft to have this set to zero.
IMO, its a terrible feature, and its not present on real planes... well... the A-10 has the gun angled 2 degrees so that the force of the gun goes through the center of mass, since it would otherwise generate significant torque when firing.... but that is 2 degrees, not something more like 10 that is found in arma2.

You'd need to make a replacement config for planes (all of them if you want), and change their gunAimDown property. There is this tutorial that you can follow. It's for Arma 3 but I skimmed through it and there is nothing different from Arma 2, the general concept is still the same.

*Update* I figured it out, finally, after reading the PMC editing website. I successfully made a small (few kb) PBO file that changes the weaponry and aim point of the gun on the F35.
I was wondering why the gunaim point changed, but not the weapons when firing up ArmA2:OA -then I realized that OA added smokes, and was probably overriding the weapons. I figred up ArmaA basic, and the weapons were changed - I accidentally started with the arma2 and not arma 2OA PBO file- still the gun aimpoint change wasn't overridden, (I can change loadout in the editor anyway)
Now to repeat the process on OA files for all fixed wing aircraft with guns (hopefully the su-25 variants can be done as a single file)
