I've tried looking for some basic Modding tutorials, but there are so many possible things to do, I can't find one that clearly and concisely explains how to do what I want (for now). Currently I've downloaded https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/BI_Tools_2.5 and installed them, but I'm unsure of what to do next.

I would like to start by making some really simple mods of the F-35.

No new 3d model
No new textures
No new Animations

All I want to do is change the weapons on the F-35.

So what I'd like to do is the following:
* Change the orientationof the GAU gun on the F35, so that the point of aim is higher, and no longer points "down" relative to the aircraft's flight vector (in normal level flight)
* Have versions with alternate weaponloadouts selectable in the editor (instead of using this addMagazine "___"; this addWeapon "___"...etc each time)
* possible: create new magazine types as well, like a 4 round sidewinder magazine, or a 2 round mk82 magazine for use with aircraft.

I would think this sort of modding would be pretty simple and just involve unpacking a file, some text editing, and repacking the file again?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
