I have a question: Is there a way to set exact object position with numbers in Arma 2 2D Editor? I'm currently trying to place walls in a straight line and it's not going so well. What I mean is directly editing object's X and Y values. Sorry for my bad english.

Welcome to the forums,

If memory serves me correctly, I don't think you can. Been a while since I was in Arma2.

It was a lot of trial & error because the icons did not properly depict the size.

Being a 2D editor made it very tedious, especially with the longer objects.

Regards.....

In the 2D editor, in your objects init field, you can add certain things to get better results.
for example:
this setPosATL [3404.4,3565.23,5.35356]; //This is useful for placing objects on-top of other objects e.g. buildings. Use ASL for objects on sea level.
this setpos [getpos this select 0, getpos this select 1, 0.4]; // This changes the height of your object. "0.4" can be any value + or -
this setVectorUp [0,0,1]; //Object will not align to floor and stay in a upright position.

There are two ways, i know of, to get the exact coordinates of positions. You have to be in-game tho.
Either use the Arma 2 camera.sqs "Left mouse button" or this script :
_myPos = getPosATL player;
_textPos = format ["%1", _myPos];
hint _textPos;
copyToClipboard _textPos;

Ctrl+V to paste wherever you need it.

Of course this is all very finicky and is not as efficient as the 3D editor. But it works.

Thanks Officer D,

At least I learned something new. I can file this in with my other script snippets.

No matter how you look at it though, it is still very tedious in the 2D editor.

Cheers......
