Im making this for people (like with addons) to post requests for missions since i am and alot of people might be running out of ideas. This is to simply make a request for a multiplay coop pvp or single player mission. Ill provide an example below, and there are a few rules to abide to when posting, key word few. Dont post anything thats impossible with the arma engine or something that has not or will be release in an arma addon that doesnt involve this thread. For example you can request a full recreation of the war of 1812 when you know verywell there are no addons that are from 1913 or before. Also make sure you see if the mission already is created. If you are not satisfied with the mission already there then state the reasons why in your post with the link to sed mission. This does not have to be realistic it can be anything from star wars to a fictional invasion of the falklands.

Please note thate you can take the example and simple click quote and replace words and info
And yes this will be looked at at least by me every week and your mission may be made.

----Example-----

Mission Info:

The Battle of Mogadishu (also referred to as the Battle of the Black Sea) or for Somalis The Day of the Rangers (Somali: Ma-alinti Rangers) was a battle that was part of Operation Gothic Serpent that was fought on October 3 and 4, 1993, in Mogadishu, Somalia, by forces of the United States supported by UNOSOM II against Somali militia fighters loyal to warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. The battle is also referred to as the First Battle of Mogadishu to distinguish it from the later Second Battle of Mogadishu. Task Force Ranger, which consisted of an assault force made up of US Army Delta Force, Ranger teams and 1 company of royal green jackets, an air element provided by the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, four Navy SEAL operators from SEAL Team 6, and members of the Air Force Pararescue/Air Force Combat Controllers, executed an operation which involved traveling from their compound on the outskirts of the city to capture tier one personalities of the Habr Gidr clan, headed by Aidid. The assault force consisted of nineteen aircraft, twelve vehicles and 160 men.

All pity choked with custom of fell deeds: And Caesar's spirit, ranging for revenge, With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch's voice Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the dogs of war; That this foul deed shall smell above the earth With carrion men, groaning for burial.

Well my idea is for maybe a bit more than just a mission, perhaps a style of play, but mission editing will indeed be needed heavily, just as you mentioned.

I've been thinking and trying to find a new way to A) Incorporate a less frenzied annoying way for PvP to work better in ArmA, and B) A style or mode of play, organised like Evo is with sides, but where say each island is split in two (like Sahrani is already) with co-AI and player ran bases etc etc, and civilian demi-populated towns, where the whole thing is ran by Game Masters who say- forinstance one week, the focus involves one side having a top secret test plane (some addon or another) and the GM gives hints to the other side about it in a roundabout way or perhaps a way that requires clues and the command structure investigate these clues accordingly within parameters of the game (spec ops recon, maybe infiltration with a spy which would merely be a soldier dressed as the enemy, details later) so as said that side has to then send special forces or whatever method they choose to investigate or destroy, or even steal it (Firefox with Clint Eastwood anyone? lol), and each event depending on its outcome affects the GM's next revalation AND/OR perhaps a final big battle at the end of the week like IC arma and arma TOW do, only with these sorts of fluid, realistic and imersive focuses during the week.

The server would have rules and times of play where these forces could be sent in, and the other side have the ability to respond obviousely, but maybe nothing happens and one side plan an insertion for a different day of the week, keeping gameplay tense and unknown.

The new Naval units being released could be involved, airforce sections could run sortie and patrols...Spy Planes could be incorporated...all these things that free up the games abilites that have previousely been ruled by more arcadey styles of play, where you run out to a plane or tank and gun it into battle, fireing all over the place can now instead immerse you fully in realtime play.

A style of play where airbases can be ran, fleets can function as such, special forces and infantry units with armour all now have real time objectives from sending out a simple patrol to inserting a team behind enemy lines to gather real actual intel where before there was no mystery as to what you were going to be doing. ie "Go capture the officer in Evo, blow up the tower in Evo, destroy the MHQ in Warfare, blah blah" now it can have mystery, can develop with new vehicles or objectives making the experience totally fluid.

One very important point is this style of play can promote and move with the modding community, anything released could now be used as it was intended properly, for an actual purpose of warfare, rather than quirky iceing to a mission you make over the weekend.

So in reflection these missions during the week- reflecting an outcome GM's have created for an end and optional battle on the weekend as said, like IC and ArmA TOW use.

Er...its a little similar to "Sahrani life" only on a Military level, and more organised, in a nutshell.

Hope i've been clear enough, its organised in my head but explaining its been harder. Please DO ask questions before resolving that it wont work. Hope i dont get flamed for this, i quote Sir Ken Robinson!-

People find it hard to do something new, as they are afraid of being wrong in the process, the only way to do or invent something new, is to be prepared to be wrong, till your right.

Here's something that is kind of like Grind_and_Click's idea...

Basically a mission that puts players into what it is like to be in Afghanistan.

Create a persistent Coop mission that cannot be won or lost. Coalition forces are stationed at the Paraiso airfield. The cities are populated with civilians and there is a faceless insurgent force out there. Now the players can either patrol the streets trying to root out the insurgents or they can accept missions. Various types of missions would be things like hostage rescue, ground/foot patrol, weapons cache search, search and destroy (outside of towns typically), and other such missions.

The idea here is that multiple groups of players could come on the server and run different missions in different areas at the same time. There'd always be something to do and never an end to the action.

I'd be willing to work on this myself, but I'm a horrible mission-maker/scripter.

I'd love to see this mission come to be.

Close Air Support - Afghanistan.

I noticed that they are very much not present in arma at the moment so i tried to make one, along the lines of you being in control of a harrier with 5-6 BIG contacts going on around Cat-Afghanistan and constant calls from FAC's coming in to ask you to drop bombs on the area in close air support.

So i when it came around to testing all the basics i had done NOTHING worked.. I am not a mission maker, evidently from what i produced.

So any of the skilled mission makers on armaholic, would you take this project under your wing?

You start off in the airbase on the map, you are outside of your harrier.

The call comes in over your radio that a Squad of us marines in Kandahar are in desprate need of close air support, with all the other harriers in the skys alreddy tasked to other contacts or out of amunition, you are scrambled to help the squad.

When you get there you drop your first bomb and 2 calls come in from diffrent FAC's saying they need your assistance.

You finish off in Kandahar and head down to the first FAC that requires your attention, half way through your flight the other FAC tells you that your assitance is not needed anymore as there are 2 apaches onsite.

Also while your on route to the 2nd CAS assignment there could be a desprate call from the FAC requesting a chinhook for a CASEVAC for an injured soldier.. thus making it harder for you to drop your bombs as the chinhook and apache escort have to be in the area whilst your attempting to support the forces on the ground.

Thats the basic outline, anything that you could do to make it more intresting would obviosly have to be added.

Recommended Addons:

CAT Afghanistan
Any apache addon - or even the ACE apache, simply to put the units where the FAC said they were and for the Chinhook escort
Any chinhook addon - or once again the ACE chinhook.

I was wondering if any scriptors and modders could create a scenario, in which the civilians riot. Then the national guard comes to calm the situation. Dunno just thought it would be a fun idea. Thanks for looking at this post.

Can you make a mission for me? It involves a team of a SF Marksman, an Automatic Gunner, a Rifleman and a medic, who are being air lifted into a town near the middle where the two islands connect. They start at the airfield that you start off at in the Evolution Blue game. They have to clear three towns near Corazol, but are dropped off via Blackhawk due to heavy AA being around the area. Around the 2nd town, they meet with a civilian, who's really one of the US's under cover guys who works with you. He joins up with you as you press on to the third town. Near the third towns entrance down the road is a car with two RACS soldiers. They are helping you clear the third town, and have a ride for you, perhaps a bus since there's so many men. Afterwards, they take a fourth area, which is the base that the US wants as a forward base for their operations. Once you take it, the mission ends, with the squad being forced to guard it until furthur notice.

[edit]
Scratch that, it's actually 2 towns, Dolores and Ortego, so I'd like the RACS with the bus to be waiting near the road entrance to Ortego. The civilian that links up with you will be waiting for you in Dolores once you kill all enemies.

Also, does anyone even look at this thread?

As this is an update of your earlier post you should have added it to the earlier post instead of double posting. I have merged your posts.

Also, does anyone even look at this thread?

No, cause people prefer to make the missions they like. Not what others would like. Those should take the time to learn how to make missions themselves.
We only have this topic to stop people posting their mission ideas all over our forums while they should spend their posting time learning how to make missions instead.

And before you get back at me........everybody can learn how the editor works and make missions.

I am ready to make an SP mission......
But you should not request impossible things like soldiers jumping from the plane and land on top of an M1A1
Also i would not deal with addons.......beside my downloaded ones!
Sorry ,that this is meant "Mission Request Thread" and not a "Guy without work" or "Unemployed Mission Editors"

OK, Mission request here:
If anyone has read Marcus Luttrell's Lone Survivor, you will know how cool of a mission this would be. In 2005, Seal Team 10 embarked on "Operation Redwing" to assassinate a Taliban leader.. After one day, they were trapped on low ground by over 200 Taliban warriors. I was thinking it would be on a default map with default equipment, because Chernarus has a good amount of steep hills. Also, the team were carrying Mark 12 SPR's and M4s (camoflauged) with holo sights. There were four men on the team. In the end, only Marcus survived. I'm not saying the player should strive for this result, but "Marcus" shouldn't be penalized for losing any amount of team members.
Written by Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, "Survivor" tells the true story of how Luttrell led a small team in northern Afghanistan to capture or kill an al-Qaida leader housed in a Taliban stronghold. On foot, they encountered two adult men and a teenage boy, and a debate broke out about whether the SEALs should execute the trio to keep them from alerting the Taliban or let them go.

Luttrell made the decision to spare their lives and free them. An hour later, the SEALs were attacked by the Taliban.

Luttrell, blown off a cliff, was the only one to survive the attack and spent four days hiding out in the mountains evading Taliban assassins. He eventually was taken in by an Afghan tribe, who cared for him and risked everything to protect him when the Taliban arrived on their doorsteps.

Basically the whole battle took place as Taliban had the high ground on very steep mountains. Taliban were armed with AK-47s, some RPGs, grenades, and Makarovs

I would imagine the enemy would be something like NAPA or the Chedaki, in fact better yet, Armed Civilians. US squad would be FR operatives armed with two Mark12's and two M4's.

After the three seals had died and Marcus had gone into hiding, a QRF (Quick Response Force) of 16 men was shot down by an RPG when landing in a Chinook Helicopter.

SEAL Team. All pictured, except Marcus, Third from right, were killed.

hi

Did anyone converted the original Arma single player campaign in coop mode? I mean, just the original plain one, but allowing to add more homan players on your own side. I remember that it was't possible in the original game.
If so could you give me the link?
Thanks!
