both supports SLI, the result only depends with your drivers. If you've got an i7 cpu, don'y forget to switch off the virtualization of cores.

The option is in your BIOS setup.

Advanced => CPU Setup => HT => Disable it

If I remember. You can't make a mistake, the explanation show : When disable, allow only one thread per core.
When enable, you've got two tread per core with an i7.

The article indicates that SLI doesn't make much of a difference. Is anybody here able to confirm this?

I am sure I have seen some posts indicating that SLI made a big difference.

I7 , ASUS P6T-DELUXE-V2, G.SKILL 6GB(DDR3-1600), 280GTX

In that article, I haven't seen it mentioning that they are using any of the SLi fixes. It seems that they are also using the wrong set of drivers for the nVidia SLi profile patch as well (if they are using) for ArmA II.

I bought ArmA 2 today, and to my disappointment, it did not run as well as I expected to. I have normal settings on, with 1000 meter viewdistance and no post processing (no motion blur or bloom). My current system specs are:
CPU: Intel Dual Core E6600 2 x 2.4 Ghz
GPU: ATI Radeon 4870 512 MB series
RAM: 4 gigs
OS: 32-bit Windows Ultimate (This is relavent because it limits my RAM to 3 gigs, I think)
And I don't know what else to add. I get a constant 20 FPS with the above settings, and it's very annoying. I do hope I didn't bite off more than I could chew. If these results are expected, are there any settings that I should turn off to get better performance? Are there any optimization configs out there that can work me some wonders? Thank you for your time, and all help is appreciated.

You'll just have to get in line with practically everyone else shocked at the current state of ArmA II and in looking for the programs sweet spot on their own particular system...you'll just have to keep playing around with various setting combos in the Video Options. What works for one may not necessarily work for another.

One quick and dirty tweak would be to reduce the 3D Resolution (in relation to Interface Resolution)...that should net a noticable increase in FPS, if numbers are what you're looking for, although with reduced graphic sharpness.
