FACT - The Graphics are much better in ArmA 2. You will need to have a powerful system to run them

axffox : Thanks. Dead3yez, maybe you should put all the useful posts into your 1 post, so people can see it in 1 thread.

Yes, I will do that, certainly soon, before the next batch of arma2 releases. I will compile everything together in one post and add various information as time moves on.

Anyway for now, Kegety's no blur and no bloom mod definately increases FPS. it's a MUST HAVE.

Without mod
Frames: 4983 - Time: 115663ms - Avg: 43.082 - Min: 34 - Max: 66

With no blur and no bloom
Frames: 4855 - Time: 102127ms - Avg: 47.539 - Min: 35 - Max: 111

[edit]
Also, worth a mention if you're running multiple GPUs / SLi / Crossfire you may also want to use the -winxp startup parameter if you're using windows vista or 7. This changes the directx version so that it will support multigpu configurations in arma 2.

i think the reason because you need a powerfull system is messy coding, its the same engine as arma 2... so if you have arma it should work the same as arma 1, a bit less because of that bloom and blur) OFP2 on the other hand is a totally new engine (from what i heard), arma 2 will be updated for performance, so dont worry if your game is laggy, or it sucks like hell,

First post is now edited with all the vital information compiled.

VFFPS now available, gamelogic in missions to alter terrain and viewdistance settings depending on your fps.

Worth a try.

I have a question about my FPS, for the germans who are the lucky ones who gets to play the game already. How good will my game look like with these system specs. Windows XP, Nvidia GeForce 8800gt 512mb, Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.0ghz, 3gb RAM. And thats all i know :P my screen is pretty old so i can run with a resolution of max 1280x1024. But i play ArmA with 1280x960 med/high no AA. So i will play arma with the same resolution. BUT is that enough to play on med/high in arma2?????? Thanks.

I must say, the -winxp thing did wonders for my FPS, went from 40 to 60 in some areas.

sure it might get you somewhere but with such a specs it's no point buying the game because i think it'll look like arma 1, so.
the game's grafics would be messy, no blur, bloom,... so why buy the game?

Because graphics aren't everything...

Surely if you actually believed in the principle of a game you would have realised this.

I think this sums up pretty well what some dev are trying to do with the games industry.

Pyle_DK : I dont know how to see the FPS but it is not high.

Use fraps (search with google) to show FPS. Or maybe ATI tool has that option too. I have not used ATI for years so i can not remember.

As for your performance.
I see you are running in SLI, did you rename the arma.exe to "crysis.exe"?

[edit]
Also read this topic: BI forums (and there are more about SLI)

Tried different drivers?

Fraps crashing is weird, you should only just run it and set FPS counter to on (and select position).
Is your computer clean of all kinds of malware?
Experience troubles with other games?
