Place the rcir_cdf_specnaz.pbo and rcir_cdf_specnaz.pbo.rcir.bisign files into the Addons folder of a mod folder of your choice. Although it will work with the default Addons folder, it is good practice to separate custom content from default content. Place the rcir.bikey file in the Keys folder.

Pretty nice. Looks a little too similar to the Russian Spetnaz though.
But I love your work! Please make some nice enemy reskins! That would be great!

It's Dutch DPM (it's too yellow for British DPM).

DPM's one of the most widely used camouflage patterns in the world; even the Russians and Chinese have a version of it for their special forces. Makes sense that the CDF might make limited use of it too.

No, do you have the addon? Theres more units than just the ones pictured above. It looks very similar to British DPM. Looks more British than Dutch.

Aye I have it.

Like I said I reckon the base colour's too yellow for Brit DPM (but that's my opinion based on how my monitor settings make it look), but comparing it to Sander's NATO camo reskins, you're right it's not as Dutch looking as his proper Dutch DPM.

Sander's Dutch, so I reckon he makes all his DPM lean towards their colouration rather than the Brit one, even if he was trying to make Brit DPM ;) (I'll have offended Sander now; in reality he was probably trying his hardest to make it look like British DPM, lol)

Not that it matters anyway; there are hundreds on variations of DPM going around with different hues depending on who makes it.

The DPM is the Dutch type with slightly different hues (decreased amount of yellow in the colour mix for harsher colouration). It has the sharper shapes characteristic of the Dutch variant, original British pattern is smudgier as if created with a softer and broader brush. The dithering and bleeding effect of British DPM is thus nearly completely eliminated in the Dutch variation.

The choice for multiple patterns is simply based on what I liked to include and for which patterns I had decent samples available. Different camouflages are included to serve multiple purposes: to match the different vegetation types, notionally represent different units and/or mimick the mismatched appearance sometimes seen in former Soviet armies.

Variations on the Bundeswehr Flecktarn pattern with different colours (and sometimes shapes, facetted blobs rather than rounded ones) are observed in limited use in several former Soviet states (armed forces of Russia as well as the Ukraine), hence the pattern in the screenshot above. For units carrying the AKS I picked a splinter pattern as again variations on the theme have been used by states in the former Eastern block (Poland and Bulgaria for example). DPM was picked as variations on the pattern are also worn by such forces, Slovenian SF for example have used it next to the regular camouflage and Russian SF can sometimes be observed wearing a copy. A VSR variation was included as stocks of that camo have been used up by various former Soviet states till new kit in different patterns was standardised.

Regards,

Sander

I'm having a problem with this mod.
When a mission tries to load, I get the pop-up box "Cannot continue because "rcir_nato_camo" has been deleted".

This file is where it should be - so what should I do?

Hi,

Thanks for providing feedback, but more specifics are needed if one is to provide a solution. There is no mention for instance of what version you are running of the game (Arma II, Combined Operations, latest version, beta etc), of the addons (several versions were released, final one or earlier) nor of the actual mission file that gives the error message.

That message relates to the RCIR NATO addon, not the RCIR Special Forces addon. In the associated RCIR mission pack there are several coops using the RCIR NATO units:

RCIR - Advantage LAW (co06)
RCIR - Blow Guns (co06)
RCIR - Escort Agency (co06)
RCIR - General Strike (co08)
RCIR - Operation Lojack (USAF)
RCIR - Pickup Truck (co05)

When trying to play a scenario from that list one needs the required addon. It is one of the three listed as a requirement.

readme.txt:
Required addons:
----------------

The following addons are required for these missions:

- RCIR NATO Camo ( http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6513)
- RCIR CDF Special Forces ( http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6660)
- RCIR Minimi Para ( http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=7465)

Regards,

Sander

I am using the latest version of this mod and the latest official CO patch (1.62) and only have the CBA add-ons installed when running this mod. I have the three required files for this mod installed in @RCIR folder and use a shortcut command line to activate it.

I get similar messages with all missions on the list in the pack, I don't have them to hand right now.

TiA
Brix

PS - it is now sorted. I had the missions in the ArmA2\Missions folder and had those issues.

I have moved them into ArmA2\@rcir\missions and they now work just fine.

Thank you for your time :)

Allright, good to see you have it sorted out already.

These missions are quite old and need some attention to bring them up to my current standard. Some things may not work as they used to in the Arma II version used to create them. At some point ordergetin statements became necessary to supplement the assignascargo statements for example, so nowadays sometimes a crew chief providing security for an extraction may be left behind. This is on a rather extended to do list.

Regards,

Sander
