Hiya. Playing "Dogs of War", the time has come for evening and finally night.
Only trouble is that there are no night vision goggles available to me from HQ and I can't see a bl00dy thing!!!!

What can I do?!? The mission is basically stuck.

Accelarate time and wait till its day?

Did you check all available crates? No enemy you killed who wears it?

Dont you start with nvg?
Dont buy complete kits when purchasing weapons since that removes nvg, buy one weapon at a time and buy the mags.

> Accelarate time and wait till its day?

The only issue I have with that is the AI might loose the battle for me. They're pretty inept and just leaving it ticking might be detremental.

> Did you check all available crates? No enemy you killed who wears it?

In the HQ base there don't seem to be ANY crates. I think the only way I can rearm is to choose the "Buy Weapons" option when near the HQ and it brings up the available items. NVG isn't one of the available options.
And I've not checked every enemy I have killed :(

> Dont you start with nvg?

No, I definitely haven't dropped anything.

> Dont buy complete kits when purchasing weapons since that removes nvg, buy one weapon at a time and buy the mags.

I'm not sure of any difference between buying a kit or individual items. As I mentioned above, when near the HQ I can select "Buy weapons" and my pistols, machine guns, rocket launchers, ammo etc. are listed BUT night vision goggles isn't an available stock.

This is narking me mucho. I'm prepared for desperate measures - even to type in a cheat code to get them (shock/horror!!). But just call it getting the supply base a few miles away on the horn and getting the mail to deliver them :) I'm even prepared to use the ENDMISSION on this one, its just SO bad.

You could buy an officer type of unit (team leader I think) and order them to drop there nvg as they "should" be armed with them.
Then pick them up and disband, kinda hard to do during the night though but as Gurk said turn the brightness up.

Nope, had to endmission. Disappointing. No idea why we're denied NVG's, perhaps the mission writers didn't anticipate it getting dark.

In this post they have some solutions:

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=81076&highlight=dogs+war

Mostly buy some units with them or find an enemy officer.

Some good tips in those posts, thanks. I can't get into the BiStudios forums to post, I request a password reset but never get the email. I also emailed support but have never received an answer.

Anyway, I've restarted the campaign after I patched the game and from what I've seen there ARE improvements. But there are still a LOT of improvements that could be made :/

I think some of my issues come from not understanding how the command menu works. We don't see this until much later in the campaign (the second half)? I mean, I have never found one of my units with NVG. And if I did how would I get the NVG off him? (normally I would just shoot him and take his gear).

Sideline; Does anyone know where I can go to understand the command menu? I've never found commands such as "request money", "send money", "Request assistance" etc... to work.
And why are options like a chopper base etc. not available to you?

To make a unit to drop gear go to the map, go to units and select the soldier in question, you will then have a gear screen for that soldier, double click the nvg to make them drop or use the drop button.
About the command menu, those dont seem to do anything with the ai so far ive noticed. Maybe in a later patch they will.

Thanks for that, I'm still a little 'in the dark' though.

I'm on Dogs of War again now (1st mission). NVG is not in my inventory and doesn't seem to be an option for me to buy.
Is my only option now to find an enemy with NVG??

And about 'dropping' the NVG as you outlined above, does he just drop them on the ground and I have to find them?

Last question, is this a mission where you can get choppers and stuff? Have never been able to drive some proper hardware in this campaign and its about time I did :/

When "dropping" it is left at the soldiers feet, so just go over to pick it up, and I did test it pilot units do have nvg in there inventory.

You "should" be able to get any unit or vehicle that you have the cash for, you just need the right building built.
