Bleh ! First BIS military sim I won't buy because of the futuristic military setting. If I wanted to play an unrealistic game I'd pick one of the thousands HALO-like game we have been flooded last 10 years.
Couac, how can you say that? with the reputation has of creating awesome military sims then how would you know that wouldnt be as awesome and a success? I am sure you will be back here once you start see all the videos are players around the world playing it on release another thing is, there will be hundreds of mods for it just as there has been for the ArmA series to date, many people will still add old and new content to it. See you soon then?
I have to say I agree with Couac. I'm not at all a fan of the futuristic setting. I will reconsider if the community releases more modern based addons.
I like this.. They want to show us what will be for about 20 years from now - there will be something which currently is now. And guys there surely will be any modification or datadisc which will bring us old units like OFP/Cold War Rearmed mod for ArmA.
Very true DarkXess. I'm not to much into the futureistic setting, but it does add possibilities.
Also is that what looks like an entreance into a mineing/underground complexe? (First picture) If it is enterable (Like Sumrak's Namalsk island All facility), then score 1 for BIS.
Im not a huge fan of the futuristic setting and equipment but I think it will be possible to mod this game just like any BIS game to date. So the fans of the realistic combat will probably produce great mods for ARMA 3 in the future.
If you do not like the futuristic setting you simply buy the game for the engine and than enjoy whatever the community releases without ever looking back at the original content.
I don't see anything "Futuristic" about this. You people need to stop whining.. The unmanned combat robots have been developed (I.E. S.Korean military) and Merkavas are active-duty tanks
Also, the planes seem like retextured L-39s from Operation Arrowhead.
I guess its 'futuristic' because of the year it is set in but other than the setting, most weapons and vehicles i've seen in ArmA 3 are all contemporary besides one or two exceptions
I think its simple: If youre into ARMA then you will buy ARMA3. The simple reason being the updated engine which will bring an even more realistic combat experience. Mods and addons will get you what you want in the end. But vehicles with physics, picture in picture, new animation system, able to customize weapons etc will sure enough make you buy it. :) I know i will no matter what era the stock game comes in.
Problem is I am mainly interested in PvP multiplayer, I find coop multilayer really dull. Sim military games are already a niche genre and it is already difficult as it is to find vanilla populated PvP servers. The problem is it is so unpractical to install MP mods on BIS games that never, in 3 different BIS games, I have seen a populated PvP server allowing players to play with nice mods (well a few ACE2 servers on Arma 2 but they had been fastly deserted for vanilla pvp servers). So unless BIS does include a system allowing players to download needed mods on server connection I know that only vanilla servers, with rail gun tanks and stuff, will be populated.
Wow, that's impressed me! I'm going buy arma3 when she will released!

Those RC .50s look nice. :)

This is why the Arma series are so great
Guys, don't forget - The ACE Team is trying to release the first version as soon as possible ;)
There's a flip side to that coin. People who don't like to play with ACE, will then be forced to play with it.
