As most of you probably know already two Bohemia Interactive employees have been arrested on the Greek island of Lemnos, accused of "spying".
Allegedly they have been caught with a video and photographs of military installation located on Lemnos.
Ota Vrtatko has sent us an official statement about this situation which you can read below.
Quote :
Hello,
we can confirm that two Bohemia Interactive employees, our colleagues and friends, were arrested during their holiday trip to Lemnos. They visited the island with the sole purpose of experiencing the island's beautiful surroundings.
Since its establishment in 1999, Bohemia Interactive has created games based only upon publicly available information. We always respect the law and we've never instructed anybody to violate the laws of any country. The same is true for Arma 3.
Currently, all our effort goes towards supporting the guys over there, as well as their friends and families affected by this difficult situation. We sincerely hope that this is an unfortunate misunderstanding of their passion as artists and creators of virtual worlds.
On behalf of the Bohemia Interactive team,
Marek Spanel, CEO

We would like to thank all the different people who informed us about this situation, too many people to list but we appreciate you took the time to forward us the news!
This sucks. Pure and simple.
Business as usual in Greece? Hang in there devs.
Release them god damn it! They haven't finished my game yet!
Just kidding... What a bad day for these guys. Hope it ends well for them.
I really do hope this is some kind of marketing ploy. If it turns out to be the real deal I hope common sense would prevail and these guys are released. Very unfortunate.
around a decade ago some brits got arrested for espionage while plane spotting, looks like similar thing, hope they get out safe and sound soon.

there are no lies. they could have asked for a licence.
A licence for what? Taking photographs of a civilian airport? Million of people all round the world take photos of airports every day. And on Limnos or in Greece that's a problem?
AFAIK Limnos is a demilitarized zone, so there can't be any military installations on it. Unless of course the Greeks give a fuck about treaties they signed before and now don't want to be catched with their pants down.
And I can't read that garbage in your links, how about something everyone in the world can read?
Is this just an April fools prank or is this legit? BIS and Armaholic have been known for outlandish pranks.
Not be be rude but what can Greece do? Their whole country went bankrupt and still is in dire straights. Like someone mentioned if this isnt some sort of joke etc? Then Greece is just showboating same as North Korea with the 2 female American reporters. They just want publicity. But still all this does sound incredibly like some sort of joke and or unbelievable. Many people film planes or whatever at both at civilian and military installations as long as you're outside the perimeters of both of course. And in most if not all countries its no big deal and won't arrest you for something like this, even if you did take a pic of something you were not supposed to, they'll either tell you to stop or maybe just confiscate your film or memory cards. If this is real its just crazy. Besides why the heck would someone spy on Greece anyway it would be like spying on the Fijian navy lol. And whats the worry Greece is not Somalia there is no danger to these people.
Here are details on the British that were found guilty of this in the past

If they didn't want them to take pictures of an airport/airbase, than wouldn't have the Greek Gov. told them at the start? I'll be honest, but the accusations against them are absurd when they were only doing their jobs.
I pray for the saftey and release for these two guys.
This is fucking ridicules, I must say though. I can just picture a group of nerdy guys with cameras taking pictures and then get put in jail with a bunch of crooks. Sounds like that old traditional movie, Vacation. In any case I hate that this has happened.
I'll send lube to them for Christmas...
@MRCrapweasel007 Do you have to use Foul Language? there is no need. That goes for anyone else too, you want to comment without foul language then do so, if not then dont both to comment.
Either they're telling the truth, or they're joking and are about to announce something. I'm not sure which one i'd prefer. Hope this is a joke though, being locked up would suck
are we going to hear about every little misdemeanour these guys get up to on their holidays (put it on twitter where it belongs because I can't find any greek broadcast with this story). I am certainly not meaning to be callous but as a previous post suggests this does smell like a cynical marketing prank.
