MGI HUD tactical glasses

Description:
New HUD TACTICAL GLASSES with new enhanced functions as in-game JOIN / LEAVE units for player group, or make CAPTIVE units.
Apart of tactical displays, i added the possibility to stick explosives on buildings and vehicles. Just for fun!

But, as far as displays are concerned, do not miss many details of the game as ranks, ratings, hitpoints damage, fatigue, friendly unit ammo and much more...
Main options can be toggled scrolling the main menu. You can choose to display them when useful.

All options tested in the former version have been improved!
Just wear the tactical glasses, added in your inventory and TRY THEM in any of Arma's campaign or training missions.
Change scenario as you can enist units with lower rating than yours ... or even make prisoners if conditions are met.

Hope you will have as much as pleasure than i had to script this add-on. Waiting for your comments and suggestions.

In this version:
4 basic modes: Full, navigation only, zeroing only, nav + zeroing:
navigation data : wind, grids, locality, bearing/distance of current weapon and/or task,
zeroing mode: 2 arrows distance / current zeroing, for accurate aiming,
other data in full mode: time, wrap time, current ROE, artillery countdown, nearest mine,

Manage your group, aiming friendly units, (SP only),
Change ROE (combat mode),
Arrest weakened enemy units (see conditions), (SP only),

Other real time enhanced data: broadcasted friendly status, tactical situation:
So , toggle on/off what you want to be displayed:
Your status, health, weapons, ammo, grenades (explosive), first aid kit,
Status of aimed unit (man, vehicle?), face profiling of enemy officers ,
Manual / Auto-zooming large GPS, considering enemy proximity, group deployment,
Auto-zooming pip camera as fast operated goggles, special mode for helo flight,
Own group Situation Report (radar-like relatives positions, health, number in group, type of unit),
Tactical icons (if in LOS for enemy or broadcasted for blufor) if units are within a 500m radius area.

All version1 existing functions have been improved.

  • Installation:
    Extract into the ArmA 3 Directory, by default this is located in:
    32-Bit - C:\Program Files\Steam/Steamapps\Common\ArmA 3\
    64-Bit - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam/Steamapps\Common\ArmA 3\
    After extraction it should look like this:
    Steam\Steamapps\Common\ArmA 3\@your_mod_folder_name\addons\

    You can also use the "Arma 3 Alpha" folder in your "My Documents" folder. Your folder setup could than look like for example this:
    mydocuments\Arma3 Alpha\@your_mod_folder_name1\addons\
    mydocuments\Arma3 Alpha\@your_mod_folder_name2\addons\
    mydocuments\Arma3 Alpha\@your_mod_folder_name2\addons\

    When present place the "userconfig" folder into your game install folder, usually:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3".
    You may already have "userconfig" folder from other addons and/or mods in which case it is safe to merge the contents from this archive.

    You'll also need to add a Launch Parameter to Steam, in order to do so right-click on ArmA 3 Alpha and click Properties and then Set Launch Options. In the window that opens enter in -mod=@your_mod_folder_name
    For using multiple mods you would then do so like this:
    -mod=@mod_name;@mod_name2;@mod_name3;@mod_name4;@mod_name5

    Note:
    You can also use -nosplash to get rid of the splash art and intro videos.


    And of course you can also enable and disable community made addons and mods through the in-game Options Expansions menu if you do not want to mess with startup parameters!

    Usage:
    Put on the tactical glasses which have been added in your inventory.
    Some missions are scripted to remove equipments and start with specific items in a custom inventory. The add-on will not work until you'll find a tactical glasses (in VA crate for instance). Sorry for this inconvenience.

    Choose your preferred HUD colors, strike Ctrl + pgup (prior) or Ctrl + pgdown (end).
    You can also define the HUD visibility (transparency vs. brightness), striking Alt + pgup or Alt + pgdown
    All other functions are accessible via the main scrolling menu.

    For further information and usage instructionss of the MGI HUD tactical glasses addon please refer to the included documentation.

    Changes since 1st version:
    No more battery needed. Just wear on tac glasses included in your equipment. You can take them off for no more display and wear as you like.

    Playability:
    - STICK explosives (Slam mine, satchel, charge, claymore) on vehicles or buildings. If on a door, blast this door (if you don't distroy all building!).
    - Throw & STICK hand grenades (and smokes, mini grenades) on a vehicle. If it's a car, you'll probably blast all doors.
    - JOIN / leave my group when aiming at friendly, less rated unit than you. Useful to "dismiss" weird or far units, but also add units in your group. conditions : check for reciprocal ratings, toggle on "unit ident" (scroll menu), aim at friendly unit, click RBM as zoom in. (SP only)
    - CAPTURE : freeze, disarm, hands on head to make captive enemy unit. (SP only)
    conditions : enemy unit has less friends than you within 50m, distance from you is less than 100m, unit has very few ammo in current weapon or is badly hurt or is fleeing. You can also arrest civilians as they doens't want to be fired for nuts.

    Displays:
    - DYNAMIC ZEROING: compare current zeroing with aimed direction (center of screen) . Do not forget any more zeroing and compare with distance.
    - ARTILLERY COUNTDOWN for each shell fired. Doesn't work with virtual artillery or in-game spawned artillery (must be already created in scenario at game start).
    - MINE DETECTOR : just nearest mine but you can miss it! make a 360 when sound alarm is triggered. Need "personal data" to be toggled on.
    (formerly, it was a Geiger count in one of my old missions).
    - CAMERA: day/night auto. zoom auto is no more instant but progressive. fixed aiming above horizon. Added cross visor.
    - general HUD display. Added colors. you can also dim the displays and choose one of the 4 basic modes
    - modified slightly the radar-like group situational awareness
    - profiler is now able to display faces pictures database before matching with Opfor officer. enjoy!
    - fatigue is now blinker-like (accelarating heart sound & spot blink when 1/4 and above). Same thing for oxygen when free diving (<3/4).

    REMOVED since ver.1:
    - swinging mag (count ammo bar) when enemy targeted,
    - bleeding time as there is no info treatment at this time,
    - battery : no more need to have it. No more capacity display.

    Here is an add-on coming from Tahiti!
    Thanks to Bohemia Interactive for filling my time with ARMA 3. I'm fond of this game and i would like to share this add-on with you.
    Not sure we could discuss of scripting around cups of coffee in Papeete, but i let you my email address.
    Do not hesitate to feed back my work. I've plenty of things to improve or even learn. But i've plenty of time.

    First of fall, thank you all writers and programmers for explaining BI functions, showing best manner to script, providing video and tutorials.
    Difficult to mention all guys not forgetting somebody.
    In Tahiti, with a French provider, the most hit & helpful sites are probably those of Dslyecxi, Striker (a French guy) and KillZoneKid.
    So be they thanked, even if, as i said, its impossible to mention all guys who provides an outstanding help.

    I'm a newbie in scripting. I started playing Arma, two years ago.
    Then, i decided to create missions. First ones are still on Steam work shop but they need to be rescripted in a campaign as they are
    a little bit... heavy! I didn't manage this aspect.

    Make Arma Not War contest appeared to me as a great oppotunity for a personal challenge. I didn't count my time to learn and progress.
    And, more than contest, it was an adventure. I took a great pleasure exchanging and understanding some of the various possibilities offered by our community.
    Voyages over scripts are not ended. Among things i'd like to do, i would like to submit two projects, still far from my capability:
    - an exoskeleton for infantry;
    - an A.C.M.I. like mode to replay some critical phases of a mission. Ideal for "fox 2" and "gun kill" air combat maneuvers.
    If any team on it, i'll be honored to participate!

    Since Arma v 1.48, HUD dispapears when calling GPS. There is a display/control error message because V1.48 is not full compatible with previous version. Ticket written in Arma feedback tracker.
