Week report #48
Work in progress

* Razani, North Waziristan Map

    Nicholas Bell started working on his next map for Arma and showed the first few wip pictures in the BI forums.
    Quote Nicholas Bell :
    A 10 km x 10 km map featuring a potential real world hotspot - a heaven for the Taliban and Al-Queda. Google Earth or Google Map Razani, Pakistan to get look at the area.

    Map sports one of the few paved roads in the FATA and is fairly heavily inhabited with locals living in high-walled compounds called Kots. These are often situated on hills and ridges, each a small fortress. I am not a modeler so unless Opteryx or BadBenson are willing to permit use of their structures, I will simply use the standard structures.

    Terrain is very mixed, with mountains, hills, plateaus, wide dry river beds, gullies and ravines.

* Extreme Arma Mod

    JackFrench informed us in our forums about the upcoming 1.6 version of the Extreme Arma mod (XAM).
    Quote :
    The first beta of 1.6 XAM will be available from October 4 to Saturday evening on the xam forums.
    Version 1.6 of XAM is an opportunity to offer you a whole new architecture of the mod for compatibility and performance.
    Since the beginning of XAM the biggest architectural change made.

    This new architecture changes the following:[.list]- Remove the file DTA and the addon Bin.pbo:
      The removal of this addon allows increased compatibility with other mods and ensures consistency in so another patch for Armed Assault.
      You can now rotate the XAM properly version 1.8 to version 1.14 of Armed Assault
    - Duties of XAM separate maximum level addons:
      This change will allow me to update XAM much smaller than in the past.
    - Remove the last addons basic Armed Assault.
      Addons CA, Weapons3 and Air3 were deleted they are no longer double in the mod and the addons original Armed Assault which could also address compatibility issues with other addons.
    - File C configurations past binary:
      For a faster reading by the computer configuration file XAM units are now in binary.
    - Passages functions and line codes XAM combs
      All are based on the XAM past combs to identify potential problems that could cause incompatibility and performance issues.
    - Addons XAM now come with signing
      XAM of the addons have their signatures for servers.
The development of XAM going very well, the work is long because this version finally push the nail at the level of immersion and details
